Job Description

The event manager is responsible for the planning and execution of a wide range of events including corporate events, cocktail parties, buffets, weddings, receptions, and plated dinners. Able to manage staff and engage with customers.

Job Responsibilities

- Follow standard operating procedures

- Establish and maintain relationships with university facility partners and external vendors

- Work closely with other event managers to ensure consistency with all events

- Full responsibility for managing diverse teams of up to 50 employees at a time

- Ensures all events are delivered at an exceptionally high level and reflect the professional standards of the company and our client

- Coordinate production of event materials and execute pre-event planning meetings

- Required to travel to events in multiple locations across campus

- May be required to work multiple events in one day with limited breaks

- Train, coach, and develop new and existing employees on all aspects of catering

- Responsible for ensuring all mandated paperwork is completed in a timely manner

Qualifications

- Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to react quickly to solve problems

- Excellent time management skills

- Ability to work under strict time-constraints in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines

- Strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects at the same time

- Capable of managing events for up to 1000 people

- Open availability that includes early mornings, late nights, and weekends

- Must be trained in food safety and alcohol compliance (training can be provided if necessary)

- Capable of lifting 40 pounds due to the physical nature of the role
