About the Role:
As the newest member of the OPIS and Chemical Market Analytics Events team, you will support us with the operational and logistical aspects of event planning and execution, including vendor management and ensuring smooth event delivery from pre-production through post-event evaluation. You will report to the Associate Director - Events.
The Events team is responsible for the development, planning, and execution of paid global events, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and provide a best-in-class attendee experience. About the Team:
Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain.
You Will:
- Provide hands-on assistance in the planning, coordination, and delivery of live events, ensuring all logistics are executed effectively
- Support the negotiation and management of vendor contracts, ensuring timely and on-budget service delivery
- Assist with Events logistics coordination including but not limited to venue selection/management, audio-visual requirements, and floorplanning/room setup
- Track event expenses, create purchase orders, process invoices, and manage payments
- Develop and maintain timelines, project scopes, event playbooks, critical paths, and quality assurance processes
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and external vendors
- Grow into the role of in-house product specialist for event management tools and platforms
- Travel up to 25% (domestic and/or international) to support on-site execution and breakdown of events - the position requires to proximity to a major US city airport for ease of travel
You Have:
- 2 to 4 years' corporate event management experience, particularly with mid-sized to large events
- Familiarity with event management tools and platforms, including event websites, registration systems (e.g., Cvent, Aventri), and mobile apps
- Managed multiple projects, timelines, expenses, and competing priorities, ensuring high-quality event delivery within tight deadlines
- Experience negotiating with and building relationships with third-party vendors and managing contracts effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours, including extended hours during peak event seasons, to align with international business schedules and meet event deadlines
