Apple is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager, AppleCare to assist with strategic planning, long term deal structuring and negotiations for after-sales service parts & modules. This position requires the ability to work with procurement, engineering, finance and legal teams and also third-parties such as contract manufacturers and suppliers. Position requires strong quantitative and analytical skills, critical thinking, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. The Strategic Sourcing Manager (AppleCare) is positioned as the interface between AppleCare's supply chain team and the industries that supply core technologies and assembly services. We are responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations based on improving technology. The position requires a curiosity about market dynamics, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation. The AppleCare procurement team drives centralized capacity planning for all service components used across Apple products and helps drive long term strategic deals.

In this position, you will design and implement solutions to achieve business critical metrics in the following areas: COST MANAGEMENT: Lead/Negotiate costs for new buys, repairs, warranty, and out-of-production replacement parts across all regions and repair channels. Validate costs and claims across various lines of business, vendors, and quoting structures. Using access to datasets, develop, build, and optimize pricing validation methods and processes. Report on and provide confidence to management that pricing is loaded timely and accurately and without exception. REUSE AND REPAIR: Work with cross functional teams and large datasets and tables to monitor and report on re-use yields and associated environmental benefits associated with whole unit and component re-use. Own and promote initiatives aimed at growing re-use and avoiding waste throughout the service supply chain. SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT: As necessary, handle suppliers' performance. Partner with the commodity leaders in Material/Operations to negotiate contractual terms in support of Service Operations' business requirements in the areas of cost, continuity of supply, quality, and warranty. Help to coordinate and host quarterly business reviews as appropriate. REVERSE LOGISTICS: Design your repair and/or replacement supply chain to ensure continuity of supply for repairs at the lowest possible cost and at the highest possible service level. Evaluate supplier's capacity availability and manage to required demand levels. Monitor suppliers planning and procurement activities in support of their operation to ensure continuity of supply, and compliance with Apple cost, quality and service level requirements.
- 5+ years of experience, BA/BS degree
- Experience working in Supply Chain, Operations, After-sales Service or a related field
- A tenacity, passion and proven skills in negotiations
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills
- Can build, grow and develop key cross-functional relationships to be able to influence and drive projects
- Ability to operation independently and lead without authority
- Ability to make quick decisions and solve complex problems with 80% information
- Experience in supplier management and operations
- Ability to identify and solve complex supply chain issues
- Presenting and leading executive communications
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters' degree or MBA preferred
- End to end ownership of contract negotiations for both commercial and legal aspects a plus
- Direct experience in long-term capacity planning a plus
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $151,200 and $268,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
