The Data Center is an Apple-Owned facility comprised of the following departments which are supported by this position: Facilities, Site Services & Logistics. The Apple EHS Lead will ensure site operations, maintenance and construction activities are performed in accordance with Apple, federal, state and other applicable regulations. In addition to these responsibilities, this individual will partner with their peers and stakeholders to drive improvements in the areas of construction safety, physical safety, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance.

Description
This full-time in-person position will sit with the Apple site leadership team and serve as the Data Center's primary resource for comprehensive EHS services. This position will work closely with Apple and Vendor leadership and peers to oversee site operations, maintenance and construction activities. In addition to these responsibilities, this position may also remotely support Data Center operations outside of the Reno area, as well as participate in broader cross-functional EHS program development and implementation initiatives. The EHS Lead drives consistency and process improvements in the areas of operations and construction safety, physical safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance. Critical EHS knowledge areas include: Collaboration with local and broader site teams, Corporate EHS Training team and the Data Center Training team to ensure training is developed and deployed in accordance with regulations and project needs Performing job hazard analysis, identifying controls, and approving work permits. Overseeing on-site Contractors & Vendors. Leading or participating in incident investigations, developing corrective actions and driving actions to closure. Conducting EHS audits and assessments. Support chemical and hazardous materials management Complying with record keeping and reporting requirements for air, water, and waste permits Performing industrial hygiene assessments Supporting Corporate EHS initiatives to improve management systems, standards development, and technology platforms
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant Environment, Health and Safety subject
- Minimum 5-7 years broad-based EHS experience, with special emphasis in construction, hazardous energy control, and data center maintenance and operations activities
- Working knowledge of facilities management, engineering, construction, environmental management, physical safety (i.e. work at height, energy isolation, medium voltage, confined space, PPE), fire/life safety and industrial hygiene
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communications skills with the ability to influence without authority
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast paced environment and able respond rapidly with clear and accurate input to a variety of stakeholders
- Typically work 8-hour shifts with the potential to work weekends or holidays along with extended hours for emergency response or as necessary
- Ability to work in an environment typically within a heat range of 60 degrees Fahrenheit to upwards of 110 degrees Fahrenheit while following OSHA driven work rest cycles
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach and lift as required, on a continuous basis, with items that can weigh up to 50 lbs
- Requires ability to climb and utilize a ladder varying in types, such as fixed, A-Frame, and extension ladders at various heights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent organization, project management, data analytics, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant technical certifications, CSP or CIH desired
- Must be highly collaborative with a team first attitude.
- In depth working knowledge of applicable consensus standards and federal, state, and local requirements
