Primary Accountabilities
- Provides expertise to facilitate the placement of accounts with admitted and non-admitted carrier partners/brokers or facilitates out bound marketing of select accounts. Provides consultation on a broad variety of commercial and personal lines coverages.
- Provides an expertise of carrier partner options for all coverages in their territory for the field agents.
- Oversees a book of business within a geographic territory. Accountable for placing profitable business.
- Analyzes submissions and makes decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and control. Based on insurance company authority levels, accepts, declines or modifies new and renewal business to ensure a profitable book of business.
- Utilizes underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulation.
- Reviews and analyzes relevant underwriting information for risks including but not limited to applications, inspections, loss control recommendations, loss history, credit checks, D&B reports, etc. Prices business according to insurance company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Handles new and renewal placement process including but not limited to rating or submitting to insurance company, negotiating with sales/service team and/or company as necessary, obtaining updated customer information and preparation of presentation and proposal/quotation materials.
- Works with internal staff or carriers to resolve questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by our vendors or to obtain guidance on more complex coverages.
- Assists agents and staff with carrier information and general processes and procedures.
- Provides field management and agents with vendor product information and support in their sales efforts via an internal sales support team. Maintains positive relationships with brokerage and alliance companies to maintain high customer service standards.
- May be required to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency using PC software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in account management/insurance placement for commercial and specialty personal lines products.
- Demonstrated experience placing profitable business.
- Solid knowledge and application of underwriting concepts and servicing for excess/surplus coverages for all admitted carriers and recognizes when to utilize a Excess and Surplus lines broker.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of brokerage customer service, carrier placement and policy processing processes, terms and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of carrier appetites and market conditions.
- Demonstrated experience consulting with agents.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- If unlicensed, provide proof of successful completion of the AD Banker On-Line Pre-Licensing Course for employee's resident state prior to 8:00am CT the Wednesday before start date or the offer will be rescinded. Proof of successful completion is: 1. A score of at least 90% on the comprehensive exam for resident states having this exam in their coursework, and/or 2. The certificate(s) of completion for resident states requiring a pre-licensing course.
Licenses
- Resident state licensing exam(s) for property and casualty producer licenses within 30 days of hire.
- Property and casualty producer licenses for all operating and/or service states must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Required to maintain current, active license(s) status by continuing education and meeting all state, operating and regulatory requirements.

- Up to 10%.

In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
