What attracted you to work at your company? How did you know it would be a good fit?
My love affair with Salesforce began in 2008. I was in a domestically abusive relationship and it was my job working as a contractor at Salesforce that gave me the resources to successfully leave that relationship and support my son. I’d been in and out of the ecosystem in various roles with the goal of working at Salesforce one day. I applied multiple times and they rejected me! Then, one day, I got that email of interest and when your dream job calls, you answer. I knew it would be a good fit because it was already such a big part of my life.
What are you responsible for in your current role?
I am responsible for the entire solution. I gather the requirements for the customer (running discovery meetings, creating documentation, etc.) then assemble and present the solution and, if I’m lucky, I get to do configuration work as well. I’m the one who has to explain why we’ve chosen a particular approach and answer any challenges, all while maintaining a positive and productive customer relationship.
What are you working on right now that excites or inspires you?
I’m actually working on a proof of concept for a defense contractor, to allow them to manage maintenance. It’s giving me a chance to flex my flow muscles and also show the possibilities when using Salesforce.
What do you value most about your company’s or team’s culture? What sets it apart from other places you’ve worked?
I appreciate our commitment to diversity and providing these opportunities to underrepresented people of all kinds. We have many internal groups and initiatives aimed at increasing camaraderie and ensuring that you know there’s support out there. I don’t feel alone or like the “only” here.
What’s one thing you would want a candidate to know about what it’s like to work at your company?
I would have to say that at Salesforce the sky’s the limit and even that can be extended with apex or flow. I could talk about this topic all day, because there is no one thing that I love about it. If I did have to choose, I would say that I love that we are given ample time off to volunteer. Community service is a cause very close to my heart and I love that this company not only enables it, but encourages it! I’m an instructor for a Salesforce course in South Africa because of this ability. It’s amazing.
What do you appreciate most about the company’s mental health and wellness benefits? Which ones have made the most impact on you personally?
So, I am neurodivergent and have a mental health disorder. This company offers so many benefits to help me be a successful, happy, and mentally sound human and I am eternally grateful. Some benefits that I have personally used are having a dietician help me revamp my relationship with healthy food and having a BetterUp counselor to help me plan my personal and professional goals. I also love that I’m able to be rewarded for healthy behaviors such as going to the gym or even trying new activities. These benefits have improved my life!
