As part of Zillow's broader AI organization of hundreds of researchers and engineers, our Munich-based team of 10 combines academic excellence with real-world impact. We have unique access to one of the world's largest collections of high-quality indoor real estate imagery, allowing us to tackle challenging computer vision problems at an unprecedented scale.

About the role

As a Computer Vision PhD Intern in the Virtual Staging AI team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a research project at the intersection of indoor scene understanding, 3D reconstruction, and generative AI. You'll collaborate with experienced Applied Scientists while having the flexibility to align the project with your research interests and contribute to your publication record in top-tier conferences.

Our team has an open attitude towards research, and we encourage publications and continuing collaborations. Most of our past interns have submissions and publications at top conferences such as CVPR and ECCV as a product of intern research and team collaboration.   • 12-week paid internship during Summer 2025
  • Based in Munich, Germany with flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, or in-person)
  • Direct supervision from experienced Applied Scientists with publications in top-tier conferences (CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, 3DV etc.)

  • Indoor scene understanding and generation
  • Sparse-view 3D reconstruction
  • Layout generation

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

Who you are

You're a current PhD student with a strong foundation in computer vision and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in indoor scene understanding and generation. You're excited about applying your research skills to real-world problems and advancing your academic publication record.

Required Qualifications

  • Current PhD student in Computer Vision, preferably on topics related to indoor scenes
  • Strong research background in computer vision, particularly in areas such as: Indoor scene representations, 3D reconstruction, Scene understanding or generation
  • Programming proficiency in PyTorch or similar deep learning frameworks
  • Experience with large datasets and data-driven deep-learning methods
  • Good publication record or is highly motivated towards publishing at top-tier scientific conferences (such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, and SIGGRAPH)
