Who we're looking for

The AMER/LATAM Security & Safety Manager directly is responsible for physical safety and security as well as compliance with occupational health and safety requirements in our AMER and LATAM regional offices - San Francisco, Madison, Mexico City, São Paulo, and Montreal as well as other smaller field sites. As part of the Global Security & Safety team, this role performs multiple security and safety duties including conducting investigations, performing security and safety office inspections, executing security & safety planning and support for corporate events, and evaluating and responding to life safety incidents.

This role reports to the Director of Global Security & Safety and supports the needs of the Global Security & Safety team globally.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, implement, and verify risk control and compliance programs to ensure the employment of safe work practices including, but not limited to: emergency response, workplace violence, fire prevention, injury and illness prevention, and compliance with local health and safety regulations.
  • Lead investigations of AMER/LATAM safety and physical security incidents and provides well-articulated reports, briefings, and recommended actions.
  • Regularly conduct physical security and health and safety assessments of offices in the AMER/LATAM region.
  • Partner with the corporate events team to provide pre-event security and safety planning as well as on-site support for large corporate events.
  • Prepares, implements, and leads a volunteer Zendesk Emergency Response Team for offices in the region.
  • Works closely with the Global Security Operations Center in Madison, WI to evaluate threat intelligence as well as respond to life safety events.
  • Develop safety and emergency preparedness protocols and training for staff, liaises with individual offices local emergency services as well as local site leaders to ensure preparedness and compliance with Zendesk policies and local law.
  • Supervise the security staff at the reception desk at our HQ location in San Francisco.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally 10% of the time

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience leading a security & safety program, preferably in a multi-site or multi-country environment.
  • Experience overseeing security guard force operations.
  • Experience in managing a corporate health & safety program.
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent), years of experience may be substituted for education.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using the S2 access control system.
  • Experience in event security and safety planning.
  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or other industry certification.
  • Prior Military/Law Enforcement/First Responder experience.

This role must attend our Mexico City office on a weekly basis. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
