The Role:

The Global Transportation Manager is responsible for day to day logistics support for all air, sea and truck shipments.  Support includes the tracking, issue resolution, escalation and process improvement of all movements of the product from incoming material from the manufacturers to the warehouse or direct-to-customer.  

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and updating ERP for deliveries status, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining accurate logs of all transportation and goods
  • Provide daily operational support / updates to internal customers, CS/X Team and Planning team, by proactively monitoring Forwarder and Carrier performance
  • Bring/advise with initiatives to optimize freight cost, organize shipment budgets and manage Forwarder expense
  • Monitor “strategic customer deliveries” and work with carriers to ensure OTD KPI is measured and reported quarterly
  • Daily communication with airlines, vendors, truckers, customers, sales representatives and overseas offices
  • Participates in the selection of carriers, considering cost, lead-time & capacity
  • Maintain quality assurance checks of the supply chain and ability to follow up on issues related to quality of service or product handling
  • Maximizes container efficiency by building full loads
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis using a variety of tools to solve transportation related business problems. Gather, consolidate, prepare and/or validate data for analysis. Relate findings to key business partners, drive improvements/implementation
  • Develop / monitor metrics for programs and initiatives to measure business effectiveness and facilitate continuous improvement
  • Dispatch freight for delivery and arrange for pickups
  • Record shipment data such as weight, charges and damages 
  • Rectify problems such as damages, shortages and non-conformance to specifications
  • Document and escalate any customer service issues and/or shipping/receiving errors

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of experience as logistics and/or customer service professional with familiarity of logistics suppliers, processes and markets
  • At least two years of experience in professional customer service
  • Bachelor’s degree or proven related experience desired in companies with technology based OEM companies
  • Experience sourcing transportation providers in new markets ie. countries and / or regions 
  • Strong understanding of international import regulations and all associated required paperwork
  • Experience with Freight Forwarder systems, UPS Quantum View, FedEx Ship Manager and TMS
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations, ECCN, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Proficient in ERP’s (Netsuite preferred) and Microsoft Office products – intermediate Excel skills a plus
  • Medical device & ISO 13485 experience a plus
