Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Full Lifecycle, Automation & Security Focus)

Clearance: Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. (Can hold up to a TS/SCI)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to transform innovative concepts into secure, automated solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD). You will be a driving force in our team, taking solutions from concept development to deployment and maintenance. Your expertise in automation and meticulous attention to detail will be critical in delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the rigorous demands of the defense industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Concept Development: Translate high-level ideas into stories and requirements for automated processes.
  • Requirements Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive requirements documentation aligned with DoD standards and project goals.
  • System Architecture & Design: Create detailed architecture diagrams showing how automated processes work.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement solutions adhering to industry best practices and security standards
  • Prototyping & Testing: Test automation in various environments ensuring compatibility and successful end goals.
  • Automation: Leverage Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Python to automate deployment processes, configuration management, and system maintenance.
  • Documentation: Produce clear and concise documentation covering configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of your automation.

Required Skills:

  • Automation Tools: Expertise in automation tools such as Ansible and PowerShell. Ability to create automated deployment scripts and processes.
  • Security Standards: Knowledge of NIST, STIGs, RMF, or other relevant security frameworks. Experience implementing and maintaining secure systems is preferred.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Hands-on experience with system prototyping and testing automation. Ability to conduct thorough testing and validation of solutions.
  • Documentation Skills: Excellent technical writing skills for creating comprehensive documentation. Ability to produce clear and concise configuration, operation, and maintenance guides.

Desired Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the DoD or defense contracting industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects from concept to deployment.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • DoD 8570 Certification: IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CISSP, CASP, or equivalent).
