Role Description:

The M365 Migration Manager position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating a staged M365 tenant-to-tenant migration project, ensuring a smooth transition of users and data from the existing environment to the new environment.

This role will focus on managing the engagement alongside the project stakeholders, overseeing an external team who will manage the migration tool, and ensuring effective communication between the technical teams throughout the migration process as well as providing accurate and detailed reporting on status.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end migration process, ensuring alignment with business requirements and timelines.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the M365 tenant-to-tenant migration process.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party delivery team to manage migration activities.
  • Drive the migration process, including planning, full and delta syncs, and cutover for staged migrations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed migration documentation, including migration batching, status reports, and issue logs.
  • Manage migration schedules, reporting progress, and ensuring that cutover plans are executed as intended.
  • Liaise with the change management team to ensure a smooth user experience and the correct and timely triggering of comms plans.
  • Provide regular updates to project team on migration progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to mitigate risks, handle issues.
  • Report on overall project health, including success rates, failures, and recovery efforts.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in managing a staged migration in a large-scale IT transformation project - in specific, Microsoft 365.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Project management skills, particularly in IT migrations.
  • Ability to manage a multi-phase migration plan.
  • Proficient in migration team management, ensuring alignment with migration objectives.
  • Strong risk management and issue resolution capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly present progress and issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of M365 environments and tenant-to-tenant migration best practices.
  • Familiarity with using creating and using reporting tools for migration metrics and status tracking.

Experience:

  • Experience of managing Microsoft 365 multiple previous migrations or similar large-scale IT projects.
  • Experience managing technical teams and coordinating activities.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, Power Platform, etc.
  • Ability to understand the end-user ramifications of similar changes.
  • Familiarity with Quest on Demand [Desirable] or similar migration tools used for tenant migrations.
  • Proven experience managing project engagement during large-scale migrations.
