Operational Risk is the risk resulting from inadequate or failed internal controls, processes, people, and systems or from external events. Operational Risk Management (ORM) upholds the integrity of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) by independently overseeing operational risk management across the company, enabling Wells Fargo to meet its strategic goals and providing a comprehensive view of operational risk.
This is a business-aligned oversight (ORBO) role overseeing multiple OC+2 leaders and their scope of business activities regarding branch channel management and branch systems and transformation strategy, design and change execution management across the horizontal branch footprint.

In this role, you will:
- Use subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to provide independent oversight and credible challenge to the front-line operational risk profile and operational risk management activities. Provide oversight, review and challenge, and influence of a business risk profile that is high risk and progressing through significant transformation, while maintaining balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
- Identify potential business operational risks and emerging risks, and provide thought leadership to size, scope, monitor and mitigate, as appropriate.
- Constructively and independently challenge existing risk management fundamentals or assumptions, and results. Advise of alternative approaches and solutions, as necessary.
- Drive risk management effectiveness by overseeing and influencing resolution of issues and strengthening of controls
- Evaluate long term risks and implications of strategic business decisions and recommend appropriate alternatives or solutions for operational risk management, as appropriate
- Lead operational risk oversight of complex initiatives with high risk, typically spanning impact to multiple business lines
- Review, challenge and consult to the business on operational risks through the risk management lifecycle, including but not limited to: Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA), Issue Management, Risk Monitoring and Reporting
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and leaders across lines of defense to both influence and deliver upon operational risk identification, assessment, management, mitigation and reporting, supporting achievement of strategic objectives and goals
7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience overseeing front line execution of Risk Programs such as: Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Issue Management, Change and transformation management, Operational Risk Events. Demonstrated ability to challenge status-quo and provide thoughtful solutions or alternatives to challenges.
- Experience designing, deploying and/or maturing risk-based, data-driven and action-oriented monitoring activities
- Experience in reviewing, challenging, and escalating large-scale change initiatives through creating of independent risk point of views in collaboration with other IRM partners
- Experience with branch banking and/or application/software/hardware management
- Strong relationship management skills with the demonstrated ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with multiple stakeholders, across layers of a hierarchical organization, to gain commitment and accomplish goals in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner across all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, and demonstrated outcomes of critical thinking
- Experience partnering with a vast and diverse portfolio of business activities and colleagues.
- Experience in improving, simplifying, and automating processes, risks, and control with a focus on high inherent risk areas
- Experience in reducing issues, resolving issues on time, performing root cause analysis, and escalating early any off-track items
- Experience in achieving and sustaining an "Effective" rated risk and control environment

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
