About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer in Operational Risk Management as part of the Commercial Banking Operations (CBO) Operational Risk Business Oversight team. This role is expected to engage with business and risk resources within the front line to influence and challenge risk management activities and decisions with an emphasis towards Commercial Lending Operations, Trade Finance, Asset Based Leasing, data management and change management risk oversight based on Commercial Banking Operations product knowledge.

In this role, you will:

  • Use subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to provide independent oversight to review and challenge to the Line of Business operational risk management activities.
  • Direct engagement with the Control Executive teams, Line of Business and Independent Risk teams to promote a strong operational risk culture.
  • Active engagement in key Commercial Banking Commercial Banking Operations Management risk governance routines.
  • Oversee and challenge the Commercial Banking Operations front line across all operational risk routines including plan, identify and assess, control, and mitigate, test and validate, monitor and report.
  • Support the Business Oversight Leader with the performance of an independent risk assessment of the Commercial Banking Operations front line, inclusive of emerging risks.
  • Understand, review, and challenge Commercial Banking Operations front line risk acceptances and new business initiatives.
  • Identify and escalate to business oversight leadership conflicts with risk management results and expected business outcomes.
  • Influence appropriate risk management prioritization by the front line to enable the business to meet strategic objectives, while meeting operational risk program expectations.
  • Evaluate cross-program and cross-group analytics to identify opportunities and best practices to influence stronger risk management practices by the business.
  • Active engagement with Independent Risk Management (IRM) risk teams supporting various risk types to ensure appropriate alignment and prioritization.
  • Develop and deliver oversight content summarizing the results of the independent risk assessment activities.
  • Facilitate IRM-sourced issues to the Commercial Banking Operations as needed.
  • Actively manage Operational Risk Business Oversight team members aligned to the oversight of Commercial Banking Operations.

  • 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of Commercial Banking product knowledge, Commercial Banking Operations, data management, change management, transformation initiatives and implementation oversight.
  • Strong understanding of Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Strong understanding of corporate/business policies, and programs as it relates to Commercial Banking and Commercial Lending.
  • Strong understanding of data, processes, products, customer interactions and where they manifest risk.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management.
  • Meaningful knowledge across the enterprise risk management framework, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders across the organization, which includes virtual, matrixed leadership experience.
  • Proven leadership skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions.
  • Demonstrated professionalism that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision and Values and leadership competencies.
  • Proven ability to scope, manage and execute complex risk management initiatives with high quality and timely delivery.
  • Flexibility and business savvy to navigate a complex, highly matrixed organization.
  • Experience providing reporting and updates to senior-level management.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
