About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Retail Investment Research Analyst.

The Investment Research position is within the Global Securities Research group of Wells Fargo Investment Institute. WIM Investment Research Analysts share a commitment to our clients' investment success and satisfaction. From a top down perspective, we provide clear prescriptive advice regarding how portfolios should be allocated within each equity sector depending on the market cycle.

We also manage several thematic recommended lists. Our investment philosophy can vary depending on investment style; however, the common core within this bottom up approach is companies that have a competitive advantage supported by quality management and appropriate financial strength.

The Retail Investment Research Analyst is responsible for providing timely, well-supported investment advice on equity and fixed income securities to support the onshore analysts team.

In this role, you will:
  • Conduct equity or fixed income research studies
  • Manage research analysts in studies of industry groups
  • Evaluate individual securities, classes of securities, or the development of quantitative decision making models
  • Perform financial research
  • Make buy, sell, or hold recommendations
  • Develop and maintain information on credit ratings of corporate, municipal, or state fixed income issuers
  • Manage a category of mutual fund or client accounts
  • Provide unique and differentiated insight for industries under coverage
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Retail Investment Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • A Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Solid critical thinking skills.
  • Solid decision making skills.
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other businesses and functional areas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of investment research, portfolio analysis or quantitative finance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of derivatives and structured products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international markets, borrowers, and investors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Investment tools such as Bloomberg or Factset applications.
Job Expectations:
  • Researching of individual securities to isolate critical variables and formulate sound investment advice by gathering, reading and analyzing information.
  • Presenting commentary and equity sector advice to onshore analysts for further discussion and potential publishing
  • Supporting onshore analysts by covering multiple equity sectors and/or fixed income sectors
  • Proactively responding to developments/news of high interest to onshore analysts
  • Reviewing of financial documents, news reports, press releases and regulatory filings and other event notices to determine the scope of the event and any action that needs to be taken by the onshore analysts
  • Compiling fundamental and economic data
  • Performing financial analysis
  • Developing and maintaining databases and forecasts to determine appropriate valuations
  • Writing research reports to reflect company, sector and market developments.
  • Other duties and reporting functions as assigned.
