The Role
The VP, DEI Business Partner will lead on operationalizing DEI efforts in North America for the business units they support. They will be responsible for partnering with business units across the organization to design and activate the delivery of the DEI strategy and will partner with the global DEI team to interpret activity at a local level, as needed. The VP, DEI Business Partner will work in partnership with business leaders, the broader DEI team, and local People & Culture (P&C) colleagues to embed systems change approach to DEI at WBD with a focus on recruitment, retention, progression, performance management, leadership development, and employee engagement. This role will partner closely with their business clients, P&C Partners, Business Resource Groups, Communications, and Legal.
Your Role Accountabilities
- Lead the workforce and production DEI team in the US to ensure the implementation of impactful evidence-based DEI activity across WBD in alignment with global org wide and P&C priorities whilst monitoring progress towards goals.
- Provide leadership, collaboration, and support to staff to translate the organizational vision for DEI into role-specific actions and performance management/accountability systems.
- Serve as a thought leader in the diversity and inclusion team. Build and maintain strong relationships with department, team, office, and functional leaders to identify and leverage diversity, equity and inclusion opportunities.
- Coach and advise leaders, to elevate their diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural aptitude and competence.
- Build robust and sustainable DEI strategies and initiatives that fit the needs of each BU and production by leveraging qualitative and quantitative insights and lived experiences of our employees and people from underrepresented groups. Establish metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
- Partner closely with People & Culture to support the DEI needs of the business and to integrate DEI goals into business plans and operational practices (P&C Partners, TA, L&D, Total Rewards, Employee Engagement, P&C Operations).
- In partnership with the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, drives the strategic execution of Business & Creative Council DEI roadmaps to accelerate change at a local level as well as development of regional DEI strategy.
- Lead and manage DEI projects from initiation to completion, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Develop and oversee development of project plans, including goals, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive project outcomes and deliverables.
- Leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to lead and develop DEI policies, processes and initiatives in partnership with the DEI Workforce & Strategy COE.
- Understand the local complexities across workforce in North America and work in partnership with DEI COE teams to meet DEI requirements and manage DEI external reporting needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years working in a DEI function for a global organization.
- Future-focused leader with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful DEI (workforce & production) strategies.
- Ability to navigate a matrixed organization that is complex, nuanced and disparate in terms of legislative and regulatory environments, and cultural and societal norms, to deliver appropriate DEI activities.
- Strong problem solving and project management skills within DEI.
- Strong understanding of DEI best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into actionable DEI initiatives.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
