Your New Role...
The VP of Music collaborates with the SVP to develop business and departmental strategies aimed at optimizing the impact of WBTV music on productions by leveraging project management best practices and streamlined efficiencies. The VP will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day music operations for WBTV productions by managing various departmental functions, including contracts, unions/guilds, accounting, and creative aspects. The VP will help direct the WBTV Music team to deliver innovative solutions at the best value for all music deliverables while fostering the professional development of the team members. In addition, the VP role includes the day-to-day oversight of third-party partner relationships and external vendors to ensure alignment and compliance with WBTV standards and objectives.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Provides creative management for WBTV produced television series, MFTs, and mini-series and new media content from a creative, budgetary, and logistical standpoint. Services all interdivisional creative needs for productions, publicity, marketing, merchandising, home entertainment, as well as such needs pertaining to outside partners including networks and co-production studios.
Oversees the day-to-day of the Music contract's function. Keeps the SVP, Head of Music updated on deal status, as well as escalates issues/concerns as needed.
Oversees the day-to-day of the Music union/guild and accounting function. Keeps the SVP, Head of Music updated with union/guild changes and status of payments, as well as escalates issues/concerns as needed.
Oversees the day-to-day of the Music creative function. Keeps the SVP, Head of Music updated on production status, as well as escalates issues/concerns as needed.
Provides leadership and professional development to music team direct reports as well as management guidance to skip-level reports. This includes daily oversight of projects, clarification of roles and expectations, professional goal setting, and maturing processes and procedures within the department.
Creates, pitches, and develops strategic ideas for the business as it relates to music and department to the SVP, Head of Music. If approved, works to implement, and see through to completion.
Creates efficiencies across the department and projects through auditing existing systems, researching alternatives, and implementing new approaches, technologies, or strategies, as approved by the SVP.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience...
Work Experience
- 10+ years in film or TV production required
- 8+ years in leadership position required
- Previous studio experience required
- Experience with contract negotiations required
- Experience with executives, talent, and representatives
- Experience leading both creative and business teams
- Experience in budgeting including accurately estimating, creating, and revising
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
Bachelor's degree required
Knowledge/Skills

- Able to work simultaneously on multiple projects with creative, budgetary, and legal considerations
- Diverse musical and television knowledge with an appetite to stay engaged and informed on all media trends
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to convey and receive detailed, complex information accurately and efficiently
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with experience optimizing processes and procedures and developing best practices
- Ability to oversee team members through project status, milestone reports, address issues in the moment, and triage concerns to SVP when necessary
- Ability to provide thoughtful professional development to team members to expand their skills and capabilities
- Exemplify professional demeanor and ability to develop and maintain relationships with producers, executives, music publishers, labels, various music rights holders, composers, agents, publicists, lawyers, and other film/tv music industry professionals
- Literacy in production paperwork (e.g., scripts, call sheets, production reports)
- Knowledge of AFM and SAG regulations and rates
- Ability to serve as liaison with internal departments including Business Affairs, Licensing, HR, Marketing, and others
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, set own priorities and deadlines
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines under pressure, while remaining professional and inspiring positive morale in the team through patient, thoughtful leadership
- Experience in budgeting and estimating, addressing overages, and resolving issues
- Willingness to attend music film/tv industry events as WBTV representative for relationship-building and industry research
- Ability to develop creative strategic initiatives from WBTV music in-house and 3rd party partners to add value for WBTV productions (e.g., events, soundtracks, resources)
- A passion for effective problem-solving and value-driven decision-making
- Familiarity with all elements of production (pre, post, scoring, licensing, contracts)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Extra, Outlook, and Cleartrack

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $260,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
