Your New Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to oversee the development and delivery of media-based software and workflow projects ensuring the timely delivery of well-designed, well-scoped, high-quality software that meets and exceeds customer expectations.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in technical program management, with specific experience in media workflows, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to fluently be responsible for product focused roles. You will also drive continuous improvement in program management processes and practices. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you combine the skillset of a Program Manager with the technical acumen and experience of an engineer, architect, or technical product owner.
Key Responsibilities
PROCESS
- Work in direct partnership with program, product, engineering, and end-user teams to define and continue to fine-tune agile methodologies and ceremonies.
- Support the efforts to define, drive, and optimize program and project processes throughout the product development life cycle from idea to implementation.
- Consistently apply processes and standards thoughtfully, identifying the right amount of process and structure to achieve the correct outcome with the least overhead. You evangelize new ideas and gain acceptance from a wide range of audiences.
- You can independently identify new processes or eliminate inefficiencies within your scope. You play a leadership role in driving continuous improvement in program management processes and practices.
SOLUTION PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
- Oversee and when necessary, assist and take action to facilitate the intake of work requests from clients and stakeholders.
- Align with clients and assist as necessary in analyzing and documenting the Business Requirements and Justification for their work requests.
- Coordinate and lead efforts to gather, interpret, understand, analyze, and document the Product Requirements to satisfy the Business Requirements. Includes collaborating closely with clients, stakeholders, and product and engineering teams. Identify when requirements are missing and ask the right questions to drive to clarity. Understand customer use cases.
- Actively participate with product and engineering teams to support the timely and accurate development of Technical Requirements and Solution Design documents.
- Confirm the appropriate Business Case reviewers for each work request. Ensure that the documents necessary for a comprehensive Business Case review are complete and available to reviewers. Facilitate the Business Case review with appropriate stakeholders to ensure buy-in.
STRATEGY
- Develop and keep current a department-wide technology roadmap, inclusive of all MT&O work, that can also be tailored for specific stakeholders throughout WBD's global organization.
- Work with product teams to define and drive both short-term and long-term product vision and strategy as part of your program management interactions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the technological and competitive landscape as it pertains to media workflows.
- Organize, and where necessary, lead activities related to Product Backlog grooming and prioritization. Ensuring clarity and feasibility for development teams, users, and stakeholders. Negotiate trade-offs across a program portfolio to speed execution of the most important projects first.
EXECUTION AND REPORTING
- Independently own, and/or work cooperatively with clients, stakeholders, product, and engineering teams, to lead program activities.
- Work across multiple teams to drive technical solutions and influence decisions and outcomes.
- Create project milestones and identify and monitor risks, cross-team dependencies, and scope creep.
- Track and report on delivery status against planned milestones and dates.
- Regularly engage with engineers and engineering managers to assist in the conversion of functional requirements into technical designs, facilitate engineering conversations around technical approaches and level of effort, vet technical designs, validate technical direction, anticipate, and identify risks, propose mitigations, and unblock development by finding alternate paths forward.
- Communicate and influence at all levels to maintain project pace and to keep stakeholders informed of program status.
- Leverage written and verbal communication skills to generate and present clear and concise artifacts such as program presentations, requirements, and status reports.
Qualifications & Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in program management within the software/technology sector, with at least 3 years focused on media workflow systems.
- Technical proficiency and understanding of media and metadata management, workflows and technologies associated with theatrical and episodic production, post-production, finishing, localization, scheduling, broadcasting, and distribution.
- Creative problem-solver with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous problem areas with ease to develop, plan, and execute achievable program roadmaps, aligned with company objectives.
- Excellent organization and documentation skills, prior experience contributing to the enhancement of a centralized product management function is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with and comfortable guiding project teams to leverage Agile and Lean methodologies
- Proven experience managing programs that incorporate software development throughout its lifecycle.
- Ability to work effectively and comfortably in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- User centric, with deep empathy for users' needs and experiences, with a focus on delivering intuitive and value-added products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in user interface design and user experience considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with global teams
- PMP, Agile, or Scrum Certifications
- Proficiency with Atlassian Confluence, Jira, and Analytics.
