Your New Role...
The primary responsibility of this role as part of the US GAAP Accounting team based in Warsaw is to deliver quality accounting services for Warner Bros. Discovery entities in EMEA, in one of the segments. This role ensures accurate reporting of financial information to key stakeholders in accordance with US GAAP. Key aspects of this role are related to managing the operational activities, with reconciliation and analysis, some transactions processing, applying SOX controls in fulfilling daily and periodic quality requirements. Results of the teamwork must result in accurate and timely month end close and financial information for key stakeholders within the Organization. Reporting into Segment Director, managing team of several accountants, by acting as one team.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Managing the team of several Accountants/Senior Accountants to provide quality services to the Organization and providing hands-on support during the day-to-day activities of the respective team to ensure effective decision making, including career development
- Proactively leading and/or performing the period-end closing and operational activities in accordance with US GAAP/WBD Policies and SOX standards
- Support S4 HANA implementation project as part of the expected change of ERP system
- Performing periodic Account Reconciliations ensuring completeness and quality of Balance Sheet for selected EMEA entities and group of accounts
- Ad hoc analysis of various types of financial information as requested
- Support continuous improvement, process changes and leading practices to have an efficient and effective process
- Escalate and/or resolve issues as appropriate, resolve intercompany variances related to managed scope
- Assisting with internal and external financial and compliance Audits, including SOX
- Assessment on the accounting treatment for complex transactions
- Partnering with other Teams e.g. Other US GAAP teams, PTP, OTC, Treasury, FP&A, Controllership, FDs, VAT, Payroll, other Record to Report team members and proposing improvements
Qualifications & Experience...
- Master's degree in accounting or finance and at least 6-10 years of accounting experience in international environment (preferably in RTR / GL / Accounting Team)
- BIG4 experience as well as knowledge of media / entertainment industry are considered advantageous
- Understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP as well as practical end-to-end understanding of reporting impact of accounted transactions is a must
- Very good written and spoken English is a must
- Experience in team management
- Proficient and experienced in MS Office applications, Excel in particular is a must
- Experience with enterprise information systems, (SAP) a strong plus and preferred. PeopleSoft knowledge is nice to have.
- Results oriented, strong attention to details, accuracy, timeliness, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks as well as strong organizational skills is a must
- Problem-solving attitude, issue flagging, as well as presentation skills of prepared analysis and its implications. Ability to frame issues and articulate findings
- Proven ability to assess new challenges, identify areas for improvements, articulate action plans to management and follow through to implementation
- Motivated by challenging, high-energy, flexible environment. Ability to work under conditions of pressure and adjust to urgent and changing situations
- High Integrity team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with others and promote positive working relationships across the organization
- ACCA, CIMA or PIBR completed qualification is considered as a strong advantage
