Your New CNN Role...
We are CNN. THE WORLD'S MOST ESSENTIAL AND ENGAGING SOURCE OF DIGITAL NEWS. We are in the midst of rapid transformation and need our next generation of innovators, makers, and dreamers who will lead and drive our growth. We aim to make the world a better, more connected place.
CNN's Digital Video team creates custom video content for all CNN platforms and select social platforms. We write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos and collaborate across the organization to cover breaking news and other important topics such as international conflicts, climate change, health, business and more.
The Producer is responsible for pitching and producing video content that will resonate with CNN's digital audiences. They will pitch video stories, gather editorial information and conduct pre-production interviews, write scripts, edit video in-house and occasionally shoot in the studio or in the field. They will also publish and program content on CNN's platforms.
The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who loves to collaborate in a fast-paced news environment. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment's notice. They are flexible and can move between hard news and lighter storytelling seamlessly. Sound editorial judgment, creativity, and a passion for engaging digital audiences is a must.
The Daily...
- Writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms
- Monitoring breaking news and search/social trends
- Gathering editorial information through research and interviews
- Brainstorming and regularly pitching story ideas
- Experimenting with video formats to reach new audiences
- Assisting with programming CNN's platforms and publishing to social networks
- Occasionally shooting video in the studio and in the field
- Collaborating with colleagues in CNN bureaus around the world
Qualifications & Experience...
- 3+ years of working at a major media outlet, or equivalent experience
- Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviews
- Passion for breaking news and current events
- Skilled with post-production software Adobe Premiere
- Familiarity with filming interviews and broll sequences
- Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require
- Foreign language skills a plus
