Your New CNN Role...
We are CNN. THE WORLD'S MOST ESSENTIAL AND ENGAGING SOURCE OF DIGITAL NEWS. We are in the midst of rapid transformation and need our next generation of innovators, makers, and dreamers who will lead and drive our growth. We aim to make the world a better, more connected place.
Producers are responsible for coordinating content and programming video for CNN's core platforms - including Desktop, Mobile Web, Apps - and social platforms (including YouTube and TikTok) that support our video business. Producers work alongside Associate Producers, senior leadership, and global teams on both the digital and linear sides to ensure the strategic curation and elevation of videos for CNN's digital audiences. This position is based out of our Hong Kong office, and will focus on serving our domestic and international audiences on digital platforms.
The Daily...
- Programs and curates video content on mobile web, app, desktop web, and off-platform accounts, using insights to understand the distinct audiences on each platform
- Writes and tests video headlines and descriptions to optimize performance
- Manages team-wide daily assignments throughout their shift
- Collaborates with other teams, both digital and linear, on ways to elevate video content that serve audience and business goals
- Evaluates existing video elements (linear TV, raw footage, etc.) to identify the best visual moments, and edits videos for digital audiences on core platforms, as well as TikTok, YouTube, and other distribution platforms
- Weighs in on content pitches with an eye towards insights-informed programming
- Trains new team members on publishing and programming workflows
- May be asked to assist or lead strategic initiatives
Qualifications & Experience...
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a news production or similar environment
- Undergraduate degree in journalism, production, new media or related field
- Equivalent work experience in journalism may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Excellent communication skills with solid news judgment and strong headline-writing skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Flexibility to deal with rapid changes in news, adapt to and execute in breaking news situations, and handle several tasks at once
- An understanding of digital video analytics and how to use insights to inform creative decision-making
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere or similar editing system
- Experience in producing short-form vertical video a plus
- Must be able to adapt to a 24h/7 days a week news environment
- Must be able to work shifts at all times of day and night
