Your New Role...
The Lighting Manger will be responsible for the design and execution of the studio and remote lighting for Warner Brothers Discovery's two sport production facilities based in West London.
Comprising of four green screen studios and three multifunctional spaces, you will operationally responsible for the daily lighting requirements. Assuring resources are at hand to support the production's smooth set up and delivery.
You will be responsible for the 'safe' provision and operation of lighting equipment from design to delivery, helping production achieve their editorial aspirations within the studio.
Please note that this role is 100% onsite.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Direct, design and maintain lighting needs for the two home base sites
- Govern and coordinate the installation and maintenance of lighting equipment at the facilities. Ensuring Health and Safety policies relating to the rig, derig and safe operation of studio lighting is adhered to
- Assist with crewing and rostering of staff and freelancers, support with the planning of future operational requirements for upcoming productions
- Support operationally when required. Delivering training and guidance for staff and crew
- Perform daily studio lighting operations checks and maintain appropriate health and safety documentation
- Oversee the crew and freelancer teams to ensure the operation, handling and maintenance of the lighting equipment is being used according to the manufacturer's guidelines
- Work closely with the Design, Operations, Editorial and Engineering departments to assure the highest visual image standards are being met
- Responsible for checking and updating lighting plans, system diagrams for all productions
- Closely collaborate with other department members and actively contribute to the overall creative and technical atmosphere of the department
- Support freelancer lighting professionals and external suppliers to ensure that work complies with the prevailing safety standards and is carried out within the specifications
- Deliver to the highest technical standards, promoting innovation and cost-effective technical solutions where they exist
- Work effectively with the engineering support teams to ensure that any technical issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Directly manage the lighting, set & prop team, ensuring productions are covered and the team's performance and development is supported
Qualifications & Experience...
- Demonstrates technical knowledge in all areas of lighting, including ETC EOS programming, Black Trax automated lighting and maintenance within television/green screen AR/VR studio's
- Technical planning skills, comfortable with the detail of technical specifications and able to plot, draw and read schematics
- A good communicator who can influence at all levels; able to deliver key information in a timely and accurate manner to a range of stakeholders
- Electrical qualification preferred
- Excellent organisational skills, able to complete tasks quickly and efficiently
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Knowledge of Health and safety legislation and standards including Working at Height, Electricity at Work, Noise, Manual Handling of Work Equipment, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA), Risk Assessments, COSHH
- Able to apply a best practice safety framework (risk assessments, method statements) in a broadcast environment, and to enforce health and safety policies as required
- Excellent computer skills, experience working with Vectorworks or similar
- Experience with WYSIWYG an advantage but not essential
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekend in line with sporting events is essential
Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
