What you'll do...

As the Senior Director, Global Communications – Walmart U.S. Workforce, you'll be the voice of Walmart, highlighting our benefits, wage investments, hiring efforts, and share stories of our 1.6 million associates. You’ll spearhead media relations, drive impactful internal communication strategies, executive communications, social media and more - all with a focus to build our employer brand and highlight why Walmart is a wonderful place to work.

  • Serves as senior-level corporate spokesperson about working at Walmart – highlighting our new benefits and wage investments to hiring and promotions; leading efforts to localize national messages for greater impact; addressing reporter requests and inquiries for top tier, national, and local publications; facilitating executive briefings; conducting media workshops; overseeing media efforts during crisis situations.
  • Drives the internal communications strategies for the implementation of key initiatives for Walmart’s U.S. workforce (approx. 1.6 million associates) and the change management strategies to ensure the success of these initiatives.
  • Directs media strategies by implementing media plans; communicating and clarifying strategy for senior leadership; leveraging reputational advertising, web-based advocacy, polling, and external communications to promote earned media opportunities; creating executive engagement media plans, including speech writing, to leverage partnerships with influential local and national stakeholders; providing consultation on media relations in complex, high-impact markets; leveraging media exposure of corporate giving; developing and ensuring standardization of processes to improve efficiency and quality; mitigating risk around the use of communication materials and tools; influencing communications across the enterprise through leadership and expertise in communication theory and strategy; and leading and participating in marketplace benchmarking studies.
  • Shapes the future of communications across the business to further organizational performance, associate engagement, and advocacy by building and leveraging global resources and relationships to create strategic communication organizations and networks; identifying, aligning, and optimizing global internal communication resources and systems; directing, facilitating, influencing, and inspiring a shared network of communicators with direct or indirect reporting relationships; overseeing and developing direct and indirect team members who manage clients, set strategic direction for key aspects of internal communications, and establish internal channels or capabilities; and developing and ensuring global adherence to messaging and branding strategy.
  • Develops strategies to ensure proactive global engagement for senior executives by developing thought leadership platforms; monitoring and identifying business, social, technological, and communications trends; maintaining business planning knowledge base; identifying, analyzing, and implementing executive communications best practices; leading the implementation of strategies to leverage executive communications in digital and social media space; directing agency resources in the execution of global engagement programs; driving content development for speeches, presentations, and other leadership communications; reviewing and editing speeches; advising executives and subject matter experts on appropriate messaging and effective message delivery; and approving speaking opportunities.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field and 6 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area. 2 years’ supervisory experience.
