The Senior Manager, Global Communications, is a strategic thinker and communicator, thirsting for something new each day. This role supports our 360-communications strategy for Walmart Connect, our company’s multi-billion-dollar retail media business in the U.S. You’ll help to author the story of Walmart Connect’s journey to becoming a top advertising platform in one of the most exciting – and rapidly growing – areas of the media industry.

This Senior Manager role will specialize in becoming the “voice of advertiser” for our team, making sure our advertiser-facing updates speak directly to their needs and interests. The “voice of advertiser” will focus primarily on business and product-related communications, while supporting owned content and media relations. You’ll join a team of seasoned communicators who manage their vertical centers of excellence while flexing their muscles horizontally across all workstreams, all reporting to the Communications Director for Walmart Connect. Expect a mix of proactive projects and reactive inbounds. The ideal candidate will be hungry to learn the business, comfortable in a crisis, hawkish for efficiency (both with processes and prose,) while always on the lookout for a relevant story to bring to life.
We are part of a broader communications team supporting the Chief Growth Officer, under Walmart’s Global Communications organization. As an office-based team, we operate out of Walmart’s San Bruno, Hoboken, and Bentonville offices.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Bringing your knowledge of the retail media space or quickly becoming fluent with the needs and interests of advertisers and partners.
- Providing strategic communications counsel to stakeholders within the business, especially for situations not solved by current playbooks. Your ability to jump in with executive presence and a strategic mindset is key.
- Getting to know your “customers.” Learn and measure the most effective ways to communicate with key audiences (from messaging to channel distribution) to achieve desired impact. This role will be helping the organization to adopt a new internal communications tool, meaning you’ll help to reimagine how we distribute critical updates to the sales team.
- Meaningfully collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance objectives – including sales, product management and product marketing, marketing, and training teams, product, legal, and colleagues across the enterprise. This role is highly dependent on relationships with cross-functional colleagues.
- Establishing clear processes – or optimize existing workflows – with business partners and setting shared priorities.
- Having a 360-degree communications mindset. The visibility you’ll have from your center of excellence can help to shape our owned content and media relations, which you will help to drive.
You’ll sweep us off our feet if:
- You have a deep understanding of retail media, or the advertising and ad tech industry at large, and the current challenges facing marketers. Or, if you have a demonstrated track record of quickly develop subject-matter expertise in new industries and developing fluency with new audiences.
- You’re an expert at making complex subjects easily understood through words and visuals. You easily wield your track changes tool to cut through passive or product-heavy language like a knife.
- You have broad experience as a 360 communicator, from media relations to client communications to supporting executives.
- You have a high bar for writing, grammar, and high attention to detail to deliver high-quality, customer-obsessed content. You'll knock us over completely with a proven ability to think like a journalist – either with a background in PR or in media.
- You are a self-starter and have strong interpersonal, project management, and analytical skills. You’re organized, disciplined and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Extra points for having a background in navigating complex organizations to GSD.
- You can problem solve using frameworks, analysis, and cross functional influence.
- You have 8+ years’ experience in building and managing communications programs with deep expertise in strategy.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279:The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00-$216,000.00
San Bruno, California US-08848:The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-09401:The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
