Data Ventures exists to unlock the full value of Walmart's data by developing and productizing B2B data initiatives that empower merchants and suppliers to make better, faster decisions for the business. As part of this transformation, we're seeking entrepreneurial individuals to help drive data productization from concept to deployment.

What you will do

As Director of Engineering in Data Ventures, you will be leading a Global team of 40+ engineers for Data Collab Hub and DevX teams. You will be responsible for delivering the Data Collaboration and the Near Real-time APIs and the API Portal that hosts them.

  • Lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams .


  • B uild and scale highly reliable , secure, and performant platform , products and frameworks.


  • Lead the Organization of Data Collab Hub and DevX via multiple Sr. Engineering Managers to build best in class AP Is and Frameworks.


  • Hire and build a high performing, efficient team, and culture.


  • Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution and propagate build for scale mindset.


  • Develop trusted partnerships with developers, partners, and architects to drive optimized platform / product delivery.


  • Leverage technology from Global solutions existing in Walmart ecosystem to build / leverage scalable and innovative solutions.


  • High sense of urgency to solve problems and in executing them with extreme ownership and accountability.


  • Proactively monitor , identify , and resolve both internal and external customers, and partners issues


  • Foster collaboration with stakeholders (Business, Product, Engineering) to define the future roadmap of the product, adopt latest technology innovation wherever necessary


  • Build, own and mentor the team of high-performance engineering team, product owners and engineering managers, provide thought leadership across each of these functions to bring best efficiencies and quality.


  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

What you will bring

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.


  • 15 + years growing and managing large and geographically distributed teams .


  • 2-5 years managing other managers.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good with people, ability to negotiate.


  • Experience working with Serverless and Cloud first solutions.


  • Experience in building highly scalable distributed systems and solutions.


  • Experience in b uilding and realizing complex microservices based architecture.


  • Experience in working in large teams using CI/CD and agile methodologies.


  • A ble to guide the teams on fu ll stack development using React JS, Redux, Ember JS or Angular JS, CSS3, HTML5, Restful API's, Node.JS, SQL and NoSQL, Service Oriented architecture, Java Spring Boot and MemCache / Distributed Cache.


  • Keen eye for modern technology trends and how they can be used to help grow the business .


  • Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.


  • Understanding of platform security including IAM, Authentication ( different factors of authentication)/Authorization - Role Management, API Gateway, or SSL termination.


  • Keen to design, implement and adopt best in class practices and systems for Incident Review and Management.


  • Keen to develop and adopt Automated regressing testing framework

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: 8 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
