Job Description

Essential Functions

As a Systems Architect on the VAS Acceptance Architecture Team, you will be part of a small, yet dynamic team designing solutions that are secure, resilient, performant, scalable, and extensible to the ever-growing needs of the Payments industry. You will be working closely with software development teams creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and ensuring solutions are built in accordance with the high Visa standards. A background in Java, Payments, and designing/building reusable services will have you off to a running start.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain the architecture solution domains and ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with the software development team to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our applications. 
  • Create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the feasibility of solutions. 
  • Stay updated with the latest industry-standard technologies and integrate them into our applications. 
  • Provide guidance on technical issues during the design and implementation stages of application development. 
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, patterns, and guidelines for application development. 
  • Conduct assessments to identify potential improvements and modernization opportunities in the application architecture. 
  • Ensure the security, quality, and integrity of data across the organization. 
  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
  • Work with other architects to stay in sync of cross platform level changes.
  • Identify common problems, need for common capabilities and design holistic solution that can scale

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages
• Experience with open-source applications.
• Strong understanding of software architectures and design patterns.
• Experience with creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
• Knowledge of industry-standard technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and understanding of other database technologies like NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB etc.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts related to data architecture to non-technical team members.
• Experience with data modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of data architectures and design patterns
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with machine learning is plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity.
• Highly driven, resourceful, and results oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of machine learning and data analytics is a plus.
• Experience with data governance and data security standards.
