Job Description

Purpose

Lead the Consumer Marketing agenda in Mexico. This role is responsible for defining and executing our communication strategy to build our brand and drive business results. It also involves deepening consumer understanding and serving as the key contact with agencies. This role requires strong experience in communication development and expertise in transforming consumer insights into effective strategies. Advanced analytics experience is essential. The leader is expected to elevate the skills and capabilities of the Mexico marketing team while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our marketing activities through a strategic, analytical approach. This position reports to the VP of Marketing Mexico.

Main Responsibilities/Key Results Area

  • Lead the strategic planning for brand and product initiatives.
  • Position Visa as the top brand for social media marketing in Mexico.
  • Lead cross-border marketing for Mexico.
  • Build brand preference and achieve all Brand KPIs.
  • Create and execute best-in-class communication campaigns.
  • Manage and execute the brand and consumer marketing calendar.
  • Oversee media plans.
  • Manage the brand and product marketing budget with forecast accuracy.
  • Oversee the marketing launch of products, benefits, and solutions.
  • Accountable for the performance of marketing plans, measured by effectiveness, performance, and costs.

 

Strategic Nature, Management Accountability, & Scope

  • Develop and execute consumer marketing strategies and plans for Mexico.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative products, brand experiences, and payment solutions in collaboration with other areas.
  • Coordinate with the LAC region.
  • Lead agencies in Mexico to produce best in class work.
  • Hold agencies accountable for their performance.

 

Decision Making & Complexity

  • Develop marketing strategies and plans.
  • Lead a high-performance team.
  • Oversee one of the top creative agencies globally.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other business areas.

 

Reporting Relationships & Interactions

  • Reports to VP of Marketing Mexico and collaborates with regional Hub functions.
  • Engages with key internal and external stakeholders at the senior levels, including clients, creative agencies, media partners, and vendors.
  • Represents Visa at industry forums and media events.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience

  • Superior marketing skills with a proven track record of developing successful marketing campaigns based on data.
  • Solid strategic thinking with the ability to craft and articulate marketing strategies rooted in a deep understanding of consumers and the business.
  • Experience in building high-performance teams and developing talent.
  • Ability to combine creative marketing with business acumen, focusing on results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to inspire and lead creative agencies.
  • Strong analytical mindset.
  • Proven social media marketing expertise.
  • Strong experience in media.
  • Experience in CRM, database work, and advanced analytics.
  • Experience leading relevant and/or global brands.
  • Proven track record of developing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Deep consumer understanding and expertise in research and insights application.
  • Strong understanding of social media.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment.
  • Effective communication and engagement with diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
