In this role, you will be responsible for guiding the future strategy around development of the next generation of solutions targeted at displacing cash-based consumer payments and tapping into non-card payments currently processed over domestic networks, wallets, bilateral/multilateral networks etc. This is a techno-commercial team leadership role spanning from establishing a vision, to executing the vision and, motivating a team of product managers as also cross-functional stakeholders to exceed their potential and deliver outsized impact.
The key expectations for the role are:
- Assessing the feasibility of new products and solutions for rollout into the Asia Pacific markets and provide regional and global colleagues with regional/market requirements and customizations that will influence the global product roadmap.
- Having a vision for future of digital payments (both card and non-card) and the product building blocks that will help achieve that vision.
- Partnering with adjacent teams such as Design, Solution Architecture, Technology and on occasion, external vendors, to build and launch new solutions
- Working with sales, product and client services team in various AP markets to execute against a strategy and achieve these targets.
- Focusing on people development and provide the team the opportunity for personal and professional development.
Why this is important to Visa
Consumer-to-business (C2B) payments are the foundation of Visa's business model. Despite strong penetration in this space, there's a significant opportunity to grow carded consumer-to-business payments. Total global consumer purchases are approximately $40 trillion — of that, approximately half is carded today, where we can increase our share. We also have the opportunity to capture the remaining that is on cash, check, ACH, and other electronic payment types.
Non-card solutions such as real-time payment networks and digital wallets are solving unmet needs for small merchants and lower-income consumers, who've been underserved by traditional financial channels. There's significant opportunity for Visa to capture in these markets, across debit, ACH, cash, and check through expanding our consumer-to-business solutions beyond card.
Projects you could be a part of:
- Engage various wallets, domestic processors and networks, industry bodies, technology platforms and clients to gain an understanding of their digitization business needs. Identify or collaboratively ideate solutions and recommendations to address their challenges using Visa’s existing products or potentially new innovative solutions.
- Develop annual strategy and associated OKRs that drive the adoption of these products in the Asia Pacific markets in partnership with the local client account executives, regional and global product owners, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
What you will need:
- Minimum 15 years’ experience with development or delivery of products and solutions with a focus on payments products and solutions
- Ability to articulate a strategic vision/influence strategy and solution constructs that execute against it, to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in driving transformation projects, comfortable designing for the future, while managing day-to-day matters. Able to challenge the status-quo sensitively and constructively by being intellectually agile, self-assured, and with a listen-first attitude.
- Experience in financial services, fintechs, telecom, retail or ecommerce with specific knowledge of payment systems and networks.
- Natural curiosity to learn about new products and systems and ability to quickly grasp new concepts and be able to explain the key benefits to clients and internal stakeholders.
- A client-oriented mindset when developing solutions while having a strong commercial understanding of a network business.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated critical thinking.
- High energy, motivated team player, able to effectively work across functions and teams to drive projects and key initiatives to completion.
- Experience in managing a team of high performing individuals with different skillsets across business development and product management
- Strong collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible working style, and able to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to first-hand develop and deliver high quality content on topics ranging across strategy, product/ constructs, commercial proposals, execution plans.
- Proven presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities are needed.
- A high degree of execution bias with ability to manage a large number of concurrent initiatives.
What will also help:
- Prior experience in tokens and authentication technologies with payment gateways, financial institutions especially in product management roles would be advantageous. Alternately, significant work experience at a senior level in wallets and/or domestic networks with proven experience in strategy, product road mapping, etc.
- Deep technical knowledge of technologies and systems used in payments, mobile and e-commerce, specifically, in areas of but not limited to 3-D Secure, EMV, authentication, NFC, and tokenization, as well as working knowledge of system interconnection methods (APIs, SDKs, ISO messages etc.)
- Experience with Agile methodology to drive product development and delivery
