Position Summary

The Portfolio Operations Analyst will support the Impact Investing, Grantmaking and Charitable Contributions activities for Visa Foundation by taking on a number of operations, administrative and back office related tasks related to these portfolios.

Excellent organizational management, attention to detail, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. This role reports to the Investment Officer (Director) at Visa Foundation. Some of the key tasks and responsibilities associated with the role are as specified below:

Essential Functions

Investments (60% Time Allocation approximately)

  • Cashflow Management: The Analyst will support and over time, take full ownership of cashflow management for the Impact Investing portfolio, liaising externally with investees and banking relationships and internally across the Foundation team, Visa Treasury and FX teams.  
  • Reporting: Over time, the Analyst will be expected to be the owner of internal workstreams and processes related to receiving and recording all periodic cashflow activities and valuation reports from the investee Funds, preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting output used for internal stakeholder discussions across the organization.
  • Closing & Ongoing Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requests from Investees: The Analyst will support and over time take full ownership of all the KYC requests required by partners for legal closing and continued maintenance of the investment portfolio, liaising as necessary with the internal legal team.

 

Grantmaking & Charitable Contributions: (40% Time Allocation approximately)

The Analyst will also support the Senior Manager of Grants and Charitable Contributions in following key areas:

  • Grants Management:  Support across all aspects of grantmaking operations and administration of the Foundation’s grantmaking strategy, disaster response, and employee matching. Examples: daily grant tracking, regular grantee inquires, regular data requests from stakeholders, disaster response monitoring and coordination, conflict of interest monitoring, audit requests.
  • Charitable Contributions Management: Administering Visa’s charitable giving strategy, processes, and reporting. Examples: yearly reconciliation report, regular data requests from stakeholders, external report, monthly invoices, regular charitable contributions inquires, audit requests, compliance monitoring.  
  • Systems Management: Help maintain the Benevity Grants Management platform for Visa and Visa Foundation. Examples: security and risk assessments, proposal and reporting updates, workflow monitoring.

 

This is a hybrid position based in Washington DC, USA. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • Degree in Finance and or Business, Economics highly preferred with ability to understand and analyze financial statements.
  • Subject matter expertise and or work experience within Impact investing or general investing and or philanthropy, particularly within grants management related to economic development, gender, small business and equity
  • Experience working with laws, guidelines and best practices governing grantmaking at US-based private foundations
  • Ability to integrate technology into work, including use of database or grant management systems (Benevity). Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Teams)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, self-starter, and an exceptional work ethic.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a strong collaborative team member
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high degree of attention to detail

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 95,200.00 to 134,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
