A fundamental function of the role will be the ability to manage a large portfolio of clients (c200) and managing difficult conversations with both internal and external stakeholders, all whilst ensuring adherence to the Global CSR framework and procedures. Internal stakeholder management will require maintaining a strong relationship and partnering with the European Account Executives and Country Managers, alongside the other regional CSR teams, whilst externally we are a client facing department. This role requires you to have some prior experience of credit and financial analysis for corporates and/or financial institutions; however, stakeholder management is just as fundamental to this role as the credit work, and therefore candidates who are not as well versed in financial analysis will be considered if the basics are in place. You will need to use a variety of Visa systems, and proactively interpret and apply your expertise to mitigating risk while striking the appropriate risk versus reward balance.

What we expect of you, day to day

  • Strong stakeholder management, both internally and externally, involving delivering clear and concise messaging around credit risk rating decisions and large collateral requirements. A personable candidate with strong verbal and written communication is essential
    • This will include client engagement around new applications alongside the existing portfolio, helping to find innovative collateral solutions for some of our newer, smaller partners
  • Accountable in managing the credit and settlement risk for a portfolio of clients based in Europe:
    • Ensuring that all clients have up-to-date annual credit ratings which are reviewed proactively where pertinent new information becomes available, such as external rating downgrades, mergers, financial difficulties, industry / country issues, and so on
    • Portfolio management including watch lists, country credit ratings, client and industry monitoring, and deep dive analysis where required
  • Collateral management and controls:
    • Ensuring clients, as set out in the Global CSR framework and controls, have appropriate collateral (security) in place to mitigate any potential losses
    • Ensuring any waivers relating to collateral requirements are managed and in place to support business growth, whilst also working with the relevant business Account Executives and collateral waiver clients to seek an eventual exit strategy
    • Releasing collateral to clients as required
    • Managing the control environment in line with risk appetite and conditions for specific clients
    • Ensuring all collateral documentation is in place working closely with the CSR Collateral Analyst/Manager and Legal
  • Clients in distress:
    • Support the risk mitigation activity where clients are in distress. This includes bankruptcies, managed winddowns, re-structures and material credit deterioration
  • Adhering to CSR Frameworks, procedures, policy standards, and controls
  • Lead and/or support the CSR Directors on CSR projects as required
  • Supporting Regulatory and Internal Audit requirements
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by the CSR Senior Leadership Team

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • A highly personable candidate with extensive experience in working with various stakeholders and managing difficult conversations; relationship management experience would be ideal but not essential
  • Experience as a credit underwriter/analyst working in a financial or payments institution; somebody working as either a senior analyst looking for their next step, or a manager seeking a new challenge, would be a good fit
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, including spotting patterns and trends that may be concerning in the future and proactively flagging in advance
  • A sound understanding of a credit framework and controls environment including the application of the framework in a financial or payments institution
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management practices in financial services
  • Knowledge of the UK and wider-European payments and/or financial services industry and the major trends affecting key stakeholders; regulatory, political and market, payment products and services, economic and competitive landscape, and technology
