Job Description
As a VCA Consulting Manager – Risk practice, you will undertake Operational Risk (i.e., authorizations and fraud) and Strategic Credit Risk-related consulting engagements for Visa clients across Sub Saharan Africa.
You will:
Deliver engagements in Authorization, Fraud and Credit Risk to inform business strategies across the credit lifecycle (acquisition, underwriting, customer management, portfolio risk management).
Deliver engagements in Risk Analytics (i.e., Credit Scoring for Consumer & SME Underwriting, Credit Scoring for Merchant Underwriting, Fraud Risk Scoring, Risk Based Pricing, Alternate Credit Scoring).
Develop trusted advisor relationships with Risk Managers/Heads at Visas client and partner organizations.
Participate in designing and implementing Risk advisory services and data driven solutions for Visas clients and partners.
Partner and collaborate with in-market VCA consultants, data scientists and broader Visa client facing stakeholders to deliver Risk-related advisory engagements.
Reengineer and/or package risk consulting methodologies and data driven solutions as appropriate, ensuring world-class best practices and efficiency through economies of scale.
Ensure consistency, standards, and quality control of risk consulting methodologies in Sub Saharan Africa.
Partner and collaborate with other Visa functions (e.g., Risk, Risk Products & Solutions, Client Services, CyberSource) to capitalize and optimize existing risk products and solutions.
Type of projects you will be a part of:
The nature of projects this VCA Consulting Manager – Risk practice role will include supporting Issuers, Acquirers, Fintechs and MNOs solve their most strategic business problems from a Risk perspective:
Card/non-Card Payment Authorizations & Fraud Risk:
Fraud, Authentication and Authorization Optimization – Define optimal payment fraud, authentication, and authorization strategy for payments transactions with appropriate risk controls.
Fraud Risk Advisory – Provide support to our clients and partners on reviewing their payment fraud strategy, enhance capabilities and optimizing monitoring rules.
Cybersecurity Assessment – Provide support to our clients to identify vulnerability and prevent potential cybersecurity attacks.
Strategic Credit Risk:
Credit Risk Diagnostic – Identify business opportunities to optimize credit risk management across the whole credit life cycle (on or off-balance sheet):
Credit Underwriting Reviews – Increase underwriting approvals by leveraging internal credit scoring, credit bureaus and alternate credit data and optimizing credit lending strategy / framework on decline/approve decisions, credit limit allocations and risk-based pricing.
Credit Line Management – Optimize credit line/capital allocation based on usage propensity, risk profile, and support operational execution across different channels.
Credit Cross Sell Management – Design optimal credit cross strategy and support operational execution through different channels.
Credit Balance Build – Build revolving balances to drive incremental lending economics through pricing optimization and cross sell opportunities.
Collections & Recoveries – Optimize collections and recovery (C&R) strategies and support C&R operations to reduce credit impairment losses in the P&L statement and outsourced debt to external service providers.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in financial and / or technology.
What we are after:
• At least 5+ of solid credit risk, authorizations and fraud, and analytics experience in the following areas: underwriting / acquisition, portfolio management, and collections and recoveries.
• Experience within a top-tier bank or the financial services practice of a top-tier consulting firm. A combination of regional and global experience is a strong advantage.
• Deep consulting skills and client engagement capabilities. Advanced client contact and presentation skills. Credibility with clients and working teams and diplomatic skills to extract desired outcomes. Comfortable interacting with and presenting to senior management of Visa client and partners.
• A proven ability to thrive in high pressure situations and a fast paced and matrixed environment.
• Excellent spoken and written command of English and excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to comprehend and convey complex business information.
• Broad networking across banking and consulting industry with knowledge on retail and SME/business banking and card-based payments.
• Deep analytical and quantitative skills - highly proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Experience in using agile methods (i.e., Design Thinking, Lean-Start-up, Scrum) would be a strong advantage.
• Willingness to travel and work onsite with Visa clients and partners if needed.
