    The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy. In VCA, Managed Services team plays a key role to enhance partnership with one of the largest clients for Visa’s Japan business and focuses on developing, implementing, and improving clients’ business by collaborating with them closely.

     

    What a Business Planning Manager, Managed Services, Visa Consulting and Analytics does at Visa:

    We are currently looking for a Business Planning Manager to drive consulting engagements for our clients in Japan, enabling portfolio growth and improved profitability across their payment businesses and to coordinate communication between Visa and a client about Visa’s products, solutions, rules and fees.

    A Manager is responsible for the client-facing portion of client engagements and will act as the main focal point, coordinating between the client team, other internal stakeholders, and outsourcing partners (as applicable). Also, this will involve figuring out recent updates in Visa’s rules and fees, Visa’s latest products and solutions, determining impact on the client, presenting the updates and impacts to the client. The full range of responsibilities are detailed below:

    On a project-by-project basis: 

    • Manage and oversee various initiatives between Visa and clients, ensuring effective tracking of status, action items, issues, and risks for consulting projects, Visa product implementations, and marketing initiatives.
    • Support overall program governance by organizing meeting cadences, addressing interdependencies and debottleneck, preparing communications for external and internal key stakeholders, and ensuring effective project management practices.
    • Assist leaders in preparing comprehensive client project proposals by clarifying objectives, scope, deliverables, approach, dependencies, roles, and responsibilities, incorporating inputs from clients, local client relationship managers, and functional teams.
    • Support leaders in project setup, including preparing contracting documentation, engaging stakeholders, developing workplans and interview guides, defining client data requirements, and coordinating vendor statements of work when applicable.
    • Conduct client interviews and analyze client documentation or processes to develop a robust fact base for project insights.
    • Collaborate with the data science team to utilize advanced data analytics capabilities in project execution.
    • Work closely with the hub team, broader global team, and other functional teams such as VCA, Product, Sales, Regional, and Global Marketing to acquire specialized subject matter expertise as needed.
    • Identify and recommend solutions that meet client objectives and drive performance improvement by leveraging VCA methodologies, frameworks, and global best practices.
    • Design and deliver compelling presentations to communicate findings, ideas, and recommendations within consulting engagements and to broader audiences.
    • Proofread materials detailing updates to Visa’s rules and fees, identify specific requirements, assess the impact on clients, and effectively present these updates, requirements, and impacts to clients.
    • Ensure successful implementation of Visa rules and fees compliance and adoption of new products and solutions, (e.g., NPD, Click to Pay, Apple Pay), through end-to-end project management and stakeholder coordination.

     

    This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

    Qualifications

    What you will need: 
    Having already accumulated a variety of experience, you will be curious about the payments industry and keen to work alongside an experienced team to quickly gain a deeper understanding. You will be client driven, comfortable managing a project end to end and relishing the opportunity to work closely with clients to influence their future performance. 

    Specific skills and experience you will bring are: 

    • 8 years or more of experience in consulting, strategic planning, or business planning
    • Fluent Japanese and at least business level English proficiency
    • Experience in payments, the retail banking industry, or technology and keen to learn technical payment concepts, rules, and systems
    • Project management skills and ability to handle multiple initiative simultaneously often within target timeline
    • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
    • Strong team orientation with a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization
    • Excellent detail orientation, ensuring the highest level of quality/rigor in reports and data analysis
    • Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities
    • Self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to progress multiple priorities concurrently
    • Flexible mindset to revise plans and scopes while managing clients’ expectations


    What will also help:

    • Experience in payments, the retail banking industry, or technology
    • PMP certification or experience in technical project management
