The Fleet Procurement Specialist is responsible for creating bid documents, analyzing bid responses, identifying potential vendors, and ensuring bids are completed and submitted on time. This role works to continuously improve the effectiveness of the fleet & asset procurement process. Role responsibilities include reviewing data, quantifying business opportunities, and communicating recommendations around strategic sourcing opportunities. This role is also responsible for execution of category level vendor/supplier performance routines.

Flexible Work Policy: The Fleet Procurement Specialist position has been segmented as Hybrid, meaning the work is a combination of onsite and virtual. This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Rosemont, IL.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Managers and fleet SMEs to understand business needs and identify potential solutions
- Procure and negotiate price and production capacity with a goal of creating benefit and overall increase in company profit, efficiency and service levels to support US Foods divisional needs
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather information for bid proposals
- Support development of bid documentation, including RFI/RFP/RFQ
- Arrange bid initiation meetings, defines the structure of the proposal
- Collaborate with vendors and partners to ensure bid requirements are met
- Participate and understand legal requirements of bid proposals and identify key components necessary for contract compliance
- Analyze and evaluate the bid process and timelines for assigned bids including but not limited to preplanning, Bid Arrival, and Post Bid Award
- Execute Vendor Performance Routines including regular business reviews by collecting input from cross functional teams (Fleet, DCs, Operations) and provide feedback to Vendors using scorecards to identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Track and report bid performances

Internal: Fleet Maintenance Operation, Legal, Finance
External: Fleet vendors and suppliers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of transportation, logistics and/or supply chain experience
- Broad knowledge of transportation industry and carrier operations
- Sourcing experience
- Knowledge of various transportation assets and services
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
- Proven relationship building skills with ability to communicate with vendor leadership
- Highly analytical, with ability to conduct basic analyses independently
- Independent, self-motivated, proactive team player with strong work ethic
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, logistics, transportation, supply chain or equivalent experience
