General Summary:
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst II to join our team and help transform complex data into actionable insights. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders, analyze and visualize data, and drive data-driven decision-making. You will also collaborate with Agile teams to optimize business intelligence tools and methodologies.
Location: 2 days onsite per week at our Portland, Maine, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Columbia, South Carolina, or Atlanta (Sandy Springs), GA, campus.
Job Specs:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role, with demonstrated success at a BI Analyst I level or comparable data analytics field.
- Proficiency in SQL, R, and/or Python for querying databases, integrating data sources, and performing advanced analytics.
- Hands-on experience with modern BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, Alteryx, or equivalent) for reporting, visualization, and data profiling.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis techniques, data modeling, and data profiling concepts.
- Experience extracting and leveraging data from data warehouses, transactional databases, object stores, and API-based environments.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate insights effectively.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an iterative, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to influence others using data and logic.
- Ability to mentor others and collaborate effectively within a team and across the organization.
- Aptitude for learning new technologies and analysis techniques.
- Strong adaptability, with the ability to embrace change, manage the unexpected, and focus on practical and positive results.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Reporting - Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and opportunities for business improvement.
- Data Visualization & Presentation - Develop compelling visual reports, dashboards, and presentations using Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
- Database Utilization - Query and manipulate data using SQL, integrate disparate data sources, and apply various database joins.
- Statistical Analysis - Apply statistical tools (correlations, regressions, control charts, T-tests) to support business decisions.
- BI Tool Development - Integrate, clean, and optimize data sources within BI tools to build interactive dashboards.
- Continuous Improvement - Leverage methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile to enhance data-driven processes.
- Project Management - Work within cross-functional teams to manage data-related projects, ensuring timely delivery of insights.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Partner with business leaders, product owners, and IT teams to translate business needs into analytical solutions.
- Excel Proficiency - Use advanced Excel functions (PivotTables, Macros, VLOOKUP, Conditional Formatting) to support data manipulation and reporting.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$73,300.00-$150,500.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
