About the Role

Uber Delivery includes our Uber Eats, Grocery, and Retail products, where we focus on getting goods from a merchant to a customer. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer II to join Uber Delivery.

This organization is responsible for serving, ingesting, and indexing data within our feed, storefront, and application carousel experiences. We support multiple data retrieval methods from a high-scale MySQL database. We focus on inventing new and exciting ways to help customers find the products they want within our ever growing catalog which requires understanding the customer needs and building a highly performant backend to support these use cases.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
  1. Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable and innovative software solutions.
  2. Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and elevate coding standards.
  3. Communicating with internal clients, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with 3+ years of full-time engineering experience.
  2. Experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture.
  3. Highly efficient coding in Golang, Java or any similar languages.
  4. Solid experience working with relational databases, MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar, on high concurrency environments.
  5. Advanced English language skills to work with other engineers and stakeholders from different regions around the world.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----
  1. Solid systems design experience on high availability and low latency environments.
  2. Working experience with Flink, Spark, and/or Kafka
  3. A great teammate and owner - willing to take on ownership of the systems, and think about operations, maintenance and reliability of their systems.
  4. Proven experience working with online food delivery systems and/or e-commerce platforms is a plus.

For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$136,000 per year - CAD$151,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link https://www.uber.com/careers/benefits.
