Uber for Business (U4B) is Uber's strategic focus on enterprise business and Uber Health is one of the fastest growing verticals under U4B. As a Software Engineer II on Uber Health team, you will have the opportunity to work with a very experienced team of engineers designing the large scale web services powering Uber Health products and systems, architecting reliable, scalable and extensible backend systems that support new features and launching high business impact and technical challenging projects along with a great team.

Since launch in 2018, we have delivered a HIPAA compliant technology solution that's helped tens of thousands of patients and caregivers get to and from care leveraging Uber as the non-emergency medical transportation. --- What the Candidate Will Do ----
- Design, develop and optimize Uber Health and sister products backend systems to support growing business needs.
- Work with key cross functional stakeholders and deliver key engineering projects and features. Work in close collaboration with other specialists, product managers, designers, and operations to ship useful and fabulous experiences to our customers
- DRI engineer to lead an end to end product development cycle. Get clarity of problem statements from designers and product managers, break projects into meaningful tasks, and deliver the project with metrics and data with fellow engineers.
- Join oncall rotation, driving continuous improvements on system availability, scalability, performance and efficiency.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 1+ years relevant engineering experience in successfully designing and building large scale, highly available and reliable engineering systems addressing real world challenging problems.
- Strong engineering skills, knowledge of data structures and a keen eye for architecture. Ability to discuss trade-offs between architectural choices both theoretically and practically.
- Proven track record of independently working and delivering high impact projects being the DRI engineer.
- Strong software engineering skills, supported by 1+ years of industry experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Golang, Python, C++, Java) and eagerness to learn more.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems, data storage and database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g. MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB) utilizing a micro services architecture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents.

- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
- Hands-on experience on development of HIPAA compliant systems.
- Experience leading engineers to tackle ambitious problems
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
