About the Role
Uber is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Program Management (TPM) to drive structure and coordination for large-scale, complex engineering initiatives across the Product Platform Teams. This role focuses on enabling cross-team collaboration to modernize critical product platforms, enhance efficiency, improve reliability, and support new product development efforts. Your contributions will help streamline execution and ensure alignment across multiple cross functional teams. This role is expected to roll up sleeves and step in and contribute at an individual level where needed. Additionally, this role is expected to bar raise the TPM skill set across a wide variety of levels, domains and geo locations.

The Uber Technical Program Management (TPM) team plays a critical role in driving high-impact, org-wide initiatives and continuously improving processes to enhance the efficiency of our product and engineering organizations. The product platform team powers a wide range of use cases across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations, supporting key business areas such as Rides, Eats, Delivery, Safety, and Insurance.
What the Candidate Will Do:
- Leading all aspects of project progress, resolving dependencies, evaluating risks, and communicating status to upper management and project team members.
- Engaging and energizing your teams to achieve goals.
- Proactively removing obstacles to drive momentum, progress, and results.
- Identifying communication gaps, managing issues, team concerns, and providing support to teams balancing opposing priorities.
- Contributing to the management of the multi-functional strategic planning and business planning process, leading conversations with key team members to develop concepts for strategic initiatives, and developing those into detailed program / project plans (including roadmaps, funding planning, resource planning and business goals).
- Implementing continuous improvements to the engineering organization and the program management process.
- Share program/project process frameworks, tools, and standard methodologies that can be adopted throughout the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in technical program management and/or software development leadership
- Proven track record of building and/or managing a team of TPMs with deep technical knowledge.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of platform architecture, software design lifecycle and vendor management.
- Expertise in using data-driven approaches for problem solving, P&L tracking and resource management.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Strong ability to manage and influence a broad set of internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and business / legal teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical and risks into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Leadership & Program Management:
- Proven success in managing cross-functional teams and initiatives.
- Experience leading and mentoring teams, driving continuous process improvement, and managing multiple projects in parallel.
- Ability to lead without direct authority and influence decision-making across various teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning, or AI-driven forecasting and/or cost optimization.
- Experience in rapidly scaling environments, with a focus on driving a product from zero-to-1.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$241,000 per year - USD$268,000 per year.
