About the Team

Uber has recently launched Uber Direct, an on-demand delivery service for business customers. The last-mile delivery market is estimated to be worth upwards of $7.5b AUD in Australia, with rapidly increasing consumer preference for on-demand services. Uber Direct has the potential to support on-demand delivery across a range of customer verticals - restaurants, supermarkets, non-food retailers, and many more use cases yet to be discovered. We are creating something brand new! Many of the problems we face are new for Uber and require creative solutions that cater to different customers, we're able to solve them because we deeply care #BuildwithHeart.

About the Role

As part of the Uber Direct team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of on-demand delivery for businesses in Australia. You'll be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our delivery operations, ensuring an exceptional experience for both our merchants and customers. This role will require a mix of strategic thinking, operational execution, and cross-functional collaboration to build processes, manage projects, and bring innovative solutions to life in a fast-paced environment. Your work will help Uber Direct expand its footprint and deliver reliable, efficient, and customer-centric services across a variety of sectors.

What you'll do:

  • Develop new processes and tools and optimize existing one to improve reliability
  • Own the delivery experience product roadmap - this involves supporting global and regional teams with the implementation and rollout of new product features and capabiltiies
  • Monitor operational performance of Uber Direct, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support merchants and our commercial teams to help maximise the delivery experience
  • Work closely with cross functional teams (e.g. Support, Billing & Collections, Partner Engineering, Legal and more) to deliver best in class reliability
  • Manage the end to end project management of Delivery Operations projects
  • Support the team with the day-to-day management of the Uber Direct product

The experience you'll bring:

  • A proven track record - You'll have 4+ years of business management, consulting or operations experience in a dynamic environment.
  • A self-starter who thrives on solving complex problems: Launching a new business isn't easy, and there are a lot new challenges to solve
  • Proactivity - A willingness to deeply understanding all aspects of the merchant experience, you are always looking for continuous improvement opportunities and you are able to build, optimize and improve processes to achieve better results with less
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to work cross functionally and build effective relationships in a fast-paced working environment
  • A customer first mindset, where you champion the needs of the merchant and objectively represent the voice of the merchant when business decisions are made
  • Strong operational and data analytical aptitude
  • Commercial and business acumen - You have a strong understanding of how businesses and organizations work together to achieve their goals
  • Project management skills - with the support of your manager you will need to be able to manage a project from start to end
  • Previous experience in last-mile (shipper or carrier side) or general logistics is a plus, but not required.
