The team:
All over the world, bus networks play an integral role in moving more people with fewer vehicles without significant spending on infrastructure. Uber Shuttle operates as a fixed-route, fixed-schedule service to move more people in fewer vehicles using buses. It offers a safe, reliable and affordable way to move at a fraction of the cost of an UberX.
Operations is all about how we run the business. The High Capacity Vehicles (HCV) Central Operations team builds, scales and optimises how we run Uber Shuttle operations to deliver on our promise to riders, drivers, fleets and clients. The team has global remit and supports teams across 4 regions - APAC, EMEA, LATAM and US&C.

The role:
The Marketplace vertical is the glue that binds all parts of our business to ensure we deliver on our promise of a reliable service. As a member of the Central Marketplace team, you will use data to solve business problems and ensure we deliver on our promise to users. You will do this by analysing complex data sets to identify trends and insights, and developing practical solutions that we can operationalise to deliver impact. You will need to have a bias to action and adopt a consultative and iterative approach to solving problems - big and small.
You will work closely with the Central Marketplace Lead and collaborate with stakeholders across Regional Ops, Analytics, Product & Engineering teams to ensure alignment and progression towards the business objectives.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Reliability: Be an expert on HCV reliability and design, build and implement initiatives to ensure riders get from A-to-B on time, every time
- Quality: Build, maintain & optimise a quality framework to ensure we meet the service expectation of riders and drivers
- Compliance, risk & fraud: Be proactive to ensure we have the right checks and balances to ensure riders and drivers have a flawless experience
- Problem solve: Partner closely with Regional Ops teams to understand their biggest pain points and find a solution path to solve these problems at scale
- Operational excellence: Champion operational excellence by building standards, frameworks and spreading knowledge across markets & segments
- Be a self-starter: Take initiative to solve new problems as they arise. We're a new business and there's a lot that we don't know.
What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a high pace environment in a data centric role
- Highly proficient in writing and understanding complex SQL queries, data pulling and wrangling
- Hands on program management experience on complex cross functional initiatives
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, adept at fostering relationships and collaborating across teams
Preferred Qualifications / Bonus Points
- Experience working on Data visualisation tools (Tableau, Data Studio)
- Experience in programming and modelling languages (Python, R etc)
