The business is still at a very early stage, with an ambitious growth target. With a focus on rapid growth, cutting-edge technology, and a seamless user experience, we're pushing the boundaries of convenience in the on-demand ecosystem.

About the Role

At Uber Eats, the Merchant Operations team for Grocery and Retail is responsible for ensuring we deliver a best-in-class experience to our merchants, delivery partners, and consumers by maintaining the highest standards of efficiency, reliability, and customer experience. As a Merchant Operations Manager, you will be responsible for designing and executing strategies that empower merchants on our platform, or those looking to join, to succeed. You'll also build and scale tools and processes focused on the needs of our merchant partners.

This role calls for a combination of process architecting, creative problem-solving, analytical and strategic thinking, strong execution skills to build and scale from the ground up, and the interpersonal ability to collaborate effectively with a team of Operations and Account Managers.

What You'll Do
  1. Problem solving and data analysis: Find pockets for operational improvement, hypothesize and investigate solutions leveraging critical thinking and Uber's extensive datasets using SQL, Google Sheets and Google Slides
  2. Project management: oversee and execute end to end complex projects, such as the launch of new products and processes, ensuring that they are executed in line with Uber's high operating standards and delivered in a timely manner
  3. Stakeholder management: support our account management team - who are in close contact with our merchant partners on a daily basis - in solving their challenges at scale; and liaise with our regional and global teams to help them prioritize our most pressing needs
  4. Process creation and improvement: build new processes and tools, or improve the existing ones, to address problems that improve the experience of our merchant partners in the app. This can include processes to reduce order cancellations or providing merchants with tailored reporting tools to closely monitor their performance.

What You'll Need
  1. At least 3 years of experience in operations management, management consulting, investment banking, strategy roles in a large business, or growing a startup, or similar experience
  2. BSc or MSc in a quantitative field, such as economics, mathematics, or engineering
  3. Strong data-driven decision-making mentality and sound business judgment through analytical thinking
  4. Executor with a bias for action, possessing a proactive personality with the ability to take initiative in a constantly changing environment, and adopting a generalist, do-what-it-takes mindset
  5. Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify and prioritize opportunities based on feasibility and potential
  6. Expertise in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  7. Experience with SQL is a plus, or comfortable learning and using new software tools
  8. Proficiency in both English and Portuguese
  9. Must have working rights in Portugal (no sponsorship available)
  10. Industry knowledge in the on-demand / same-day delivery space and experience or interest on the grocery & retail space is a plus

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
