About the Role

Uber is looking for a Director, Technology Sourcing and Supply Chain. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Strategic Sourcing Director to lead and manage our technology category of spends (Hardware, Software, Telecom, Cloud, CPAAS & Leasing). This role will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives supporting product infrastructure, go to market product strategies and internal enterprise use cases. Key goals in this role are to optimize costs, ensure supply chain efficiency/risk reduction, and drive innovation across our technology procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of technology categories with a deep market understanding, advanced understanding of supplier ecosystems, and a proven track record in strategic sourcing and supply chain.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategies: Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for the technology category, including hardware, software, services, and other technology-related spend. Align strategies with overall company goals and objectives
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure the best value and service levels. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues proactively
  • Cost Optimization: Drive cost savings initiatives and identify opportunities for cost reduction, value enhancement, and risk mitigation within the technology category. Conduct spend analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, finance, and business units, to understand their technology needs and requirements. Ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with business needs and objectives
  • Market Intelligence: Stay updated on market trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices. Utilize market insights to make informed sourcing decisions and stay ahead of industry changes
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Mitigate risks by ensuring robust contract terms and conditions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of sourcing professionals. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to build a high-performing sourcing team.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to track the performance of sourcing initiatives. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in technology category management
  • Strong negotiation and contract negotiation skills with the proven ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or other advanced degree
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of market trends, supplier ecosystems, and emerging technologies in the technology category.
  • Proven ability to build relationships/partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills customizable to meet multiple audience needs (e.g., peers, clients, executives and suppliers)

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$210,500 per year.

For Dallas, TX-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$210,500 per year.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$211,000 per year - USD$234,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$211,000 per year - USD$234,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$210,500 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$211,000 per year - USD$234,000 per year.
