The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development and success of our digital solutions for the Compliance, Audit and Trade departments by bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. This role is responsible for defining and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring that the development team delivers high-quality vehicle products that meet customer needs and business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of Compliance, Audit and Trade process, technologies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Legal, Compliance and Automation Systems, the person in this role will support the Compliance and Audit department's objective to develop strong partnerships to support and mature the systems and capabilities of the Compliance and Audit Office.

What you'll be doing

Product Vision & Strategy:

  • Leverage a strong working knowledge of rules, regulations, upcoming legislation changes, and business processes to best represent the desired business outcomes in our systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and articulate the product vision and roadmap.
  • Gather and prioritize product requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Influence department priorities by understanding global, regional, and national opportunities to increase revenues, profitability, and lower Toyota's Compliance and Audit risk.

Technical Leadership:

  • Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear requirements.
  • Assist in the evaluation of technical feasibility and drive discussions on architecture and design.

Product Development Practices:

  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Provide a solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Customer First:

  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to inform product decisions and improvements.
  • Ensure that digital products meet or exceed customer expectations in terms of quality, performance, and usability.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; OR demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Advanced experience as a Product Owner/Program Manager OR in a similar role within a risk, compliance, or regulated industry background.
  • Regulatory background or experience.
  • Proven experience with product management methodologies; preferably in an Agile/SCRUM context.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate technical and functional concepts as well as participate in design discussions and data analysis
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools and practices (e.g., JIRA, Trello, etc.)

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience with large scale compliance programs for global companies.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Trade Compliance experience with Canadian, US, and/or Mexican Customs.
  • Experience with ordering, shipping, and payment processes at large scale.
  • Data analytics experience using big data tools and concepts.
