Toyota's Technical Analysis Group (TAG) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Engineer, preferably with an emphasis on Advanced Driving Assistance Systems, electronically stored information, and/or connected technologies.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Design & Technical Analysis Engineering, the person in this position is responsible for analyzing technical issues relating to vehicle safety, performance, and quality. The position is located in Plano, Texas; the selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.

What you'll be doing

  • Work on a team, including with associates from other departments or affiliates, to evaluate reported product concerns and product performance.
  • Manage the technical aspects of field incident evaluation, including accident analysis, quality performance, and customer vehicle concerns. Review and analyze matters and provide technical feedback promptly.
  • Provide design analysis and forensic engineering support concerning:

    • Vehicle accident reconstruction
    • Causes of vehicle accidents
    • Biomechanical and injury mechanism evaluations
    • Design history of vehicle structures and systems
    • Vehicle crash test performance and vehicle evaluations
    • Regulatory compliance and government testing
    • Industry engineering practices
  • Develop engineering evaluations and opinions through design analysis and technical analysis. Engineering evaluations and opinions will help develop strategies for responding to claims and lawsuits by providing a sound technical basis for incident and product performance evaluation.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, accident scene inspections and testify at depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Analyze and evaluate new/prototype products when requested.
  • Utilize communication skills to explain highly technical subject matters.
  • Provide other technical or engineering input upon request.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably with an electrical or computer emphasis).
  • 7+ years of professional-level experience in automotive product development and/or evaluation environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical (problem solving) and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25% to 40% of the time.

Added bonus if you have

  • Familiarity with accident reconstruction, vehicle safety systems, federal motor vehicle safety standards.
  • Familiarity with vehicle, and component testing, vehicle diagnostic scan tools.
  • Familiarity with product (including software) developmental processes and procedures.
  • Teaching or professional instruction experience (of technical subject matter).
