What we're looking for
The Accounting Project Manager supports Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB) in executing a wide variety of special projects within the accounting area.
The primary responsibility of this role is planning, communicating, and implementing all aspects of the project, change management, communication and relationship building.
What you'll be doing
Projects (70%):
- Identify, develop and recommend a strategic plan, operating plan and project tools for implementing projects
- Create project requirements based on the financial reporting requirements, develop milestones and hold team members accountable
- Interface with leadership, internal & external customers, and other key stakeholders within the company concerning project implementation and status impacting Accounting & Tax
- Assess the accounting impacts related to projects, including ensuring that Accounting projects are being performed in a manner that follows generally accepted accounting principles.
- Serve as a liaison between accounting projects and various domains to prioritize work based on needs and level of effort.
- Performing User Acceptance Testing including creating test scenarios, test new functionality and perform debugging with domain contacts.
- Creating step by step guides with examples and numbers to demonstrate testing results or process implementations to be used by operational teams.
- Develop multi-tenant capabilities within the accounting process to support future growth.
- Maintain an all hands on deck mentality and willingness to dive into the details to support projects and new initiatives to completion.
- Incorporate multiple viewpoints and provide solutions when responding to situations or opportunities
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate various work streams/processes within the TFSB Accounting area
- Prioritize and reprioritize projects as issues/challenges or changes develop
- Develop a risk mitigation and contingency plan to reduce project risks
- Leverage Toyota Business Practices to develop robust, scalable, and well-defined solutions that can be placed into production
- Possess strong project management leadership skills, including relevant certifications, to establish project metrics and milestones and manage to them.
Core TFSB Accounting and Governance (30%)
- When necessary, assist the TFSB accounting team in financial reporting matters, including backfilling during resourcing constraints.
- Develop a thorough understanding of TFSB Accounting's responsibilities and products
- Gain an understanding of TFSB's Accounting policies, systems and processes
- Actively keep abreast of new product initiatives
- Understand the SOX key controls and COSO framework for TFSB Accounting and ensure controls are adhered to in implementing new processes or products
Qualifications/ What you bring
- Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA license required
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- 3+ of public accounting experience required
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, preferably with or open to take professional project related certifications.
- Project management/leadership experience required including effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Heavy experience with Microsoft Office
- Solution oriented
- The ability to successfully manage multiple short-term activities without impeding progress on longer-term activities
- Self-starter who works independently to move tasks forward while continuously obtaining group consensus
Added bonus if you have
- Masters in Accounting or Finance
- Big 4 public accounting
- Open to process reengineering mindset and continuous improvement / Kaizen
- Experience with SAP, Hyperion Financial Management, and Snowflake SQL a plus
- Experience managing/querying large amounts of data
