We’re looking for a Manager, Revenue Accounting to join Snap Inc! As a member of the Accounting team, you will manage a team, analyze an accounting treatment for certain transactions, record and report accounting transactions, and optimize processes for efficient and accurate data flow. You will collaborate cross functionally with other business partners daily to ensure accurate and timely accounting and US GAAP reporting.
What you’ll do:
- Manage a team of 2-3 accounting professionals, including coaching, talent reviews, and goal setting/development plans
- Set the direction, priorities and workload balancing for your team and often have multiple projects under your supervision
- Develop relationships and work closely with business partners to provide accounting and business support, including research and recommendations on accounting issues, changes in judgements and estimates that impact financial results, as well as implementation of accounting changes
- Apply your knowledge of ASC 606 to non-standard transactions and new product offerings, drafting memorandums on the technical accounting impacts, working with the Technical Accounting team on more complex issues.
- Work cross-functionally with business partners on non-standard deals and new product offerings to align on the downstream impacts, controls and reporting needs for financial close. Design and implement new processes and controls as needed.
- Analyze, organize and deliver information that move teams to decisions and action
- Review monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for areas as assigned, ensuring high quality work product and level of detail
- Prepare and review materials for internal and external reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Assess, research and document appropriate US GAAP treatment for various transactions within the business
- Draft and maintain accounting policies related to revenue and costs of revenues
- Work at the lowest level of detail to understand Company operations and identify accounting issues.
- Identify risks in and drive process enhancements, implement controls, and maintain proper process documentation and evidence in accordance with SOX.
- Provide support for the external financial statement audits, as well as periodic internal audits
- Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with an understanding of US GAAP and ability to document accounting conclusions
- Ability to work under pressure and perform several tasks concurrently in a deadline driven environment
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, and superior attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Exceptional analytical skills, including Excel
- A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task, think creatively, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
- Someone who is flexible, eager, and willing to build from the ground up
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent years of experience
- 6+ years of experience as an accounting professional
- 2+ years managing a team
- CPA License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Big 4 firm experience
- Fortune 500 and/or private company experience
- Experience working in cloud finance systems (Oracle, Netsuite, etc.)
- 3+ years with a focus on Revenue Recognition
