What we're looking for
The Accounting Policy Manager will be responsible for leading, managing, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's (FFIEC) Call Reporting rules over accounting policies and transaction control. This role will focus on supporting the accounting policy decisions of Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB) and work closely with TFSB stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include evaluating the accounting and financial reporting implications of complex transactions, evaluation of new accounting policies, updating of the accounting operations procedures manual, and training business unit team members on key issues. The position also requires a solid understanding of complex accounting rules and related interpretations so timely and accurate guidance can be provided to key decision makers.

What you'll be doing
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and FFIEC requirements:
- Provide technical accounting support to all areas of the company - with specific focus on Loan Origination Fees and Costs, Transfer of Financial Assets, Leases, Income Taxes, Revenue Recognition, Debt & Derivatives, Fair Value, and Allowance for Credit Losses
- Analyze new products or Company initiatives from an accounting lens to support a successful project launch.
- Review and advise on accounting policies and procedures to ensure transactions are properly accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Banking rules.
- Lead and manage the development and documentation of accounting policies to incorporate technical accounting research.
- Ensure documentation supports a control compliant framework.
Accounting Research Management
- Ensure regulatory compliance - FASB, IASB, FFIEC
- Research new technical literature
- Aid the National Manager in the implementation of applicable new accounting standards impacting the business by ensuring they are properly understood, and practically interpreted and necessary policy and procedural changes are established.
- Monitor FASB, IASB, and FFIEC and other standard setting bodies for future standards applicable to the company.
- Research and consult with others in the organization to facilitate the drafting of FASB comment letters.
Other, Communication & Leadership
- Manage relationships with external auditors, appropriate business group financial managers.
- Drive the effort for increased automation of manual processes.
- Other special projects as identified and requested.
Qualifications/ What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Active CPA license required
- 8+ years public accounting experience, serving public clientele and dealing with complex accounting issues, or 6+ years of public accounting experience combined with 3+ years of industry experience.
- Polished communication skills - including an ability to listen to the needs of the business units, comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, research complex matters, and present findings as well as recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
- Adaptive to various work environments and ability to change communication styles to fit the audience.
- Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Query PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Added bonus if you have
- Master's degree in Accounting
- Global financial services or banking industry experience
- Experience with Call Reporting and IFRS
- Big Four public accounting experience
- Accounting research tools such as Accounting Research Manager (or equivalent applications)
