Team Intro
TikTok USDS User Research Insights team creates knowledge and provides insight surrounding the attitudes, perceptions, behaviors, and ways of thinking of various TikTok user classes (viewers, creators, non-users, etc) with the overarching goal of informing key business decisions and product development, while carefully maintaining user privacy and mitigating company risk. We are a US team with diverse backgrounds unified by a strong curiosity and enthusiasm for conducting applied behavioral science research.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with cross-functional leads, including Marketing and Communications teams, to deeply understand the needs of users and creators in the North American market and other global markets

- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify the key research questions that will help shape the product strategy in different markets
- Identify and create the best research methods based on the question, timeline, and resourcing
- Design and implement research, synthesize findings into practical and impactful insights to help stakeholders make decisions
- Measure and track how product changes affect user behaviors and attitudes over time, reveal the key reasons with solid data rationale
- Initiate foundational research and gather insights from relevant industries to help stakeholders explore the possible solutions to challenging long-term product question
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of combined research experience (work experience and education) with a degree in Psychology, Statistics, Sociology, Marketing, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Neuroscience, or other related fields
- Bachelors +5 years of industry working experience, or
- Masters +3 years of industry working experience, or
- Doctorate (PhD) +2 years of industry working experience
- Expertise in both quantitative (e.g., surveys, data analysis, A/B testing) and qualitative research methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups, concept tests)
- Proficiency in analyzing and visualizing large datasets using statistical tools, with experience in building scalable dashboards and reporting tools
- Familiarity with advanced quantitative analysis methods such as factor analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and T-tests
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience leading Marketing or Communications related research initiatives
- Experience designing and executing both tactical and strategic research projects that directly impact marketing and brand strategy
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and take initiative to solve dynamic challenges
- Proven track record in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence business partners and serve as a thought partner on major company decisions
- Experience with advanced qualitative analysis methods such as natural language processing
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and multivariate analysis to drive actionable marketing insights
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $120248 - $211786 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
