Responsibilities
The Government Relations and Public Policy team covers a wide range of responsibilities: government affairs and government relations, policy and issue area expertise, crisis management and risk mitigation, outreach, engagement and partnerships. The mission of the team is to earn trust and prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Internet entertainment services, with a profound knowledge of the regulatory and political landscape in Spain (and ideally also in Portugal). You will become part of a Global Public Policy team committed to delivering our vision for a safe, joyful and creative platform. You will be dealing with the most interesting public policy challenges of our time, helping contribute to the success of the company.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of public policy strategy in Spain and Portugal, advising the company on emerging policy trends and ensuring alignment with business objectives and team's goals in SEU;
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with senior government officials, policymakers, and regulatory bodies in Spain and Portugal, driving TikTok's policy positioning;
- Represent TikTok at high tech industry gatherings, trade associations and coalition meetings;
- Develop strong relationships with the Spanish and Portuguese governments, Parliament, NGOs and key partners;
- Anticipate and proactively address critical policy challenges in Spain and Portugal, shaping the regulatory landscape through strategic stakeholder engagement;
- Review and analyse legislative and regulatory proposals to understand impact on TikTok;
- Work closely with Trust & Safety, Communications, Legal and product teams on the development and integration of key public policy projects to support TikTok's business objectives in SEU;
- Carry-out research and reporting on domestic and international policy issues relevant to the company;
- Assess implications of and advise on product and feature launches within country.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience;
- 5+ years of public policy and/or government relations and advocacy work;
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the political system and legislative processes, environment and institutions, as well as cultural landscape in Spain and Portugal;
- Strong established network with senior Spanish and Portuguese policy makers and opinion leaders;
- Very strong understanding of public policy issues around child safety, privacy and data protection, and other tech policy issues. Proven track record in at least one of these subject matters;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English;
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in law or public policy;
- An educational background in law or public policy is a plus;
- Portuguese as an additional language would be an advantage.
