About the Team
The Global Privacy & Regulatory Affairs team handles and oversees legal privacy and regulatory matters pertaining to TikTok's global operations. The team works cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders in the US and around the world to tackle some of the most complex, interesting, and cutting edge issues in privacy and security. We are looking for highly motivated, experienced, and bright legal professionals to join our exciting team.
Responsibilities
- Actively monitor, brief, and advise colleagues in GPRA and cross-functional stakeholders on global privacy laws and new legislative and regulatory developments impacting TikTok's e-commerce business.
- Review new products, product features, and initiatives impacting the e-commerce business to identify relevant legal and regulatory requirements and guide compliance with privacy and data protection laws and TikTok policies.
- Advise on e-commerce-related privacy policy and practice questions (including those related to collection and use of creators' and merchants' data, logistics, payments, communications and sensitive data), assess and advise on third-party relationships (including data transfer requirements and negotiation of privacy-related contract terms), and assist with compliance assessments.
- Help drive global e-commerce privacy strategy. Coordinate with regional counsel to perform multi-jurisdictional assessments and facilitate global privacy design and compliance efforts.
- Support the development of internal and external global privacy policies, notices, processes, standards and guidelines relevant to the e-commerce business.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of privacy policies and controls across the e-commerce business.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) and qualification to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- Extensive privacy-related legal experience
- Experience advising on privacy matters impacting e-commerce businesses, such as collection and use of creator and merchant data, payments, logistics, vendor relationships, and communications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP certification in one or more jurisdictions
- Experience advising on global privacy laws and regulations and reporting requirements

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $190000 - $319200 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
