The Team
The Europe Legal Team is a dynamic and collaborative group of legal and compliance professionals who provide strategic legal guidance across diverse areas such as eCommerce, regulatory, compliance and commercial. Operating across multiple European markets, the team works closely with cross-functional partners to address complex legal challenges, enabling the company to achieve its business objectives while maintaining the highest ethical and regulatory standards. This is a fast-paced and supportive environment, where teamwork and innovation are highly valued.
The Role
Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance with content and safety legislation such as the Digital Services Act and the Online Safety Act
- Implement a programme of monitoring and oversight.
- Ensure systemic risks are identified and properly reported on and that reasonable, proportionate and effective risk-mitigation measures are taken.
- Monitor compliance with relevant DSA codes of practice such as the Code of Practice on Disinformation.
- Cooperate with the regulators in conjunction with Legal and GR colleagues.
- Organise and supervise legally mandated audits and monitor remediation.
- Inform and advise on obligations including delivering leadership briefings and supporting on training.
- Develop and embed a strategic approach to compliance.
- Create and implement relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintain an independent mindset and effectively challenge where necessary to achieve a robust second line of defence.
- Advocate risk and compliance, champion a positive risk culture and help provide an appropriate 'tone from the top' on risk and compliance matters.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and professional qualification in law, finance, compliance, accounting/audit or similar discipline.
- 15+ years compliance experience with 5+ in a regulated entity/environment.
- Strong experience in assurance, controls and hands on experience of management of audits.
- Track record of building trust with regulators and strong working relationships with business teams.
- Previous team management experience.
- Highly collaborative and strong influencing skills.
- Have outstanding communication skills that allow you to interact with a wide variety of individuals.
- Be a team player, be adaptable and willing to partner with teams from across the business.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of platforms and good knowledge of relevant legislative landscape.
