Oculus Studios and Sanzaru Games are looking for a lead concept artist to join our cutting edge, experienced development team in crafting visually stunning and immersive worlds. As a lead concept artist, you will work directly with department heads to guide the concept art team to create breathtaking concept art. Sanzaru prides itself on crafting interactive content that delivers high quality, immersive experiences that takes players to unimaginable worlds. Lead Concept Artist - Sanzaru Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of concept artists, providing guidance, education, and artistic mentorship and feedback.
  • Proactively engage with the head of visual development, lead animators, 3D leads, lead game designers, engineers and writers to define scope and solutions to visual problems.
  • Collaborate with the art director establishing visual goals, objectives and work plans.
  • Proactively engage with production to propose pipelines and schedule tasks according to milestone goals.
  • Create concept art for characters, environments, props, vehicles that align with artistic and game design direction.
  • Research, gather and create reference sheets in collaboration with the Art Director.
  • Prepare and present materials showcasing concept art team materials for internal and external teams.
  • Deliver, request, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Manage artists career growth, providing performance feedback and reviews, conducting regular 1:1s, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Actively support recruitment and team development efforts, participating in interviews, hiring, and onboarding artists.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of industry experience managing a team of concept artists working on a game project.
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams in a lead capacity.
  • A thorough understanding of the art and game design pipelines.
  • A portfolio showcasing concept art samples demonstrating solid artistic foundations. Samples should include progress sketches, as well as finished artwork, including key art, as well as character and prop sheets.
  • Experience with software and project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Trello.
  • Experience developing and launching a AAA game title.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with and interested in VR.
  • Experience leveraging UE5 for concept art block-outs.
  • An affinity for games across platforms and genres

$149,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
